Nancy Mini Quilt Pattern + Your Free August 2018 Calendar

We say goodbye to July today, and for us its one step closer to Spring YAY! I usually love Winter but this one feels like a real struggle. It's been so cold! Do they just feel worse as we get older?
Anyway enough complaining, its time for my new August mini quilt pattern and this one is a super pretty one. Please welcome the sweet and lovely Nancy to my pattern family:

Isn't she pretty? A girlfriend and I were reminiscing about our aunts over coffee a few weeks back, and she was talking about her three Aunt Nancy's. Each of them had unique qualities and enhanced her life in some way, whether it was with their humor, their cooking, their musical talents or their hugs. The name and the stories stuck, and I knew this mini just had to be called Nancy :)

I headed straight to my stash for this one. I wanted to use this gorgeous navy floral which Maddi had brought me ages ago. I picked colours from the fabric to tie it all together, and I love the combination of the soft pinks and greens. I'm sure Nancy would look great in any combination but I'm crushing this palette right now.

I love the shape of this design and how the star points look like little bows around the centre. Its a super cute and sweet little star, and the real focal point of this design.
I love how it turned out, and it was great to finally use the navy floral. I've pulled it out for a few other projects but then I changed my mind, so its nice that it finally has its chance to shine.

Nancy is part foundation paper pieced and part traditionally pieced and I thought I'd take the opportunity to remind you how to print accurate FPP templates from my patterns. To ensure the templates print to size, make sure your printer setting are set to"none" or "actual size" in the page scaling panel prior to printing. This panel is the pop up that comes up when you press the print icon.
And just a reminder to reprint extra sheets, do not photocopy them as the photocopier reduces the size just slightly.

Nancy finishes at around 16" square so all of the units are quite large and manageable, and lots of fun to sew. I find this size perfect for a table topper or a cushion front but she will also look gorgeous hanging on your mini quilt wall.
I quilted my Nancy mini with a loopy stipple and I finished it off with some more of the navy floral as binding. Perfect!

The PDF pattern also includes a colouring sheet to assist in selecting colours/fabrics prior to sewing and optional instructions for adding a hanging sleeve or corner hangers. Plus I've included some examples of making multiples of this block for larger projects.
If you would like to make your own version of Nancy, from today until the end of August 2018 PDF patterns are available at the introductory price of $4.95 (AU) in my Big Cartel shop HERE.
Or if you prefer an instant download, PDF patterns are also available in my Etsy shop HERE.

I hope you love Nancy as much as I do. I've never had an Aunt Nancy so she's very welcome in my pattern family and I'm sure she will love being part of your mini family as well ♥

Happy quilting :)
