Week Ending (June 23)

Happy Sunday creative peeps! I hope its been a good week for you. College mid year exams start on Tuesday and its a stressful time for the kids. Cohen is quite relaxed but he's been studying very hard and attending study groups.  Hopefully all the kids do well, its a heavy workload and they deserve to be rewarded. :)
There was lots of inspiration on the net this week, so lets have a look at the projects I book marked to try later:

  • First up is something a little different, a Crochet Birthday Cake. Now it may not be as well received as a big fat chocolate cake with loads of cream and thick yummy icing but its a cute idea to decorate the party table. How sweet would it look at the lolly bar or on the present table? It looks fun to crochet and you can reuse it for everyone's special day.
  • I really loved this Plaid-ish Scrap Quilt from Kitchen Table Quilting. Its a free  tutorial and a great way to use up some scraps. Its a great pattern for the men in your life but it would also look great as part of your home decorating - think a big cosy chair near the fire, a plump pillow, hot chocolate and this quilt. Love it!

  • Fourth of July celebrations are right around the corner, so the Fat Quarter shop have released a free video tutorial for a Patriotic Quilt Pattern and Tablerunner. These look fabulous and even if you don't have the time for the quilt, you can sew up the tablerunner as part of your family celebrations.
  • My must try recipe this week is this Chicken Tortellini Soup and even though it looks hearty and soul warming for winter, you could make this anytime of the year. Its bright and colourful and the addition of pasta makes it even more special.

  • I thought this Baby Bunting from Attic 24 was really cute. Lucy's patterns are always warm and inviting and she has nailed it with this bunting. There are links to yarn kits and the free tutorial and as always there's lots of photos to help you along the way.
  • The gorgeous Rhapsody fabrics from Sedef Imer are starting to show up in stores (its about to hit Australian shores soon!). I love Sedef's fabrics and this is another beautiful range. She designs the most stunning florals and this range has a gorgeous colour palette. Look out for it at your local quilt shop.

  • And lastly, Stephanie shared her free pattern for a Circular Carry All Tray. These will add extra storage to your sewing room. She also has links for a square and rectangular tray so all your needs are covered.

And that's it for another week. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'm working on the wedding quilt so I hope to make a bit of progress today. Wish me luck!

Happy Week Ending :)
