Week Ending - April 5

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers. Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create, every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! How's your week been? We've just started a four week lockdown, and it's comforting to know everyone is working and schooling from home (and Michael is on annual leave). It's been a rollercoaster week of emotions for me and to be quite honest, some days I just couldn't cope! It's times like this we have to remind ourselves we've been through hard times before and survived, and we will get through this as well. :) It's also OK to sit and cry for however long we need to as well :)

I thought this week I'd focus on blog posts with excellent resources for lockdown/quarantine, and I couldn't narrow it down to just seven, so here we go:

  • Taste Australia has 24 Retro Recipes To Rediscover When Pantry Stocks Are Low. There's some good old favorites in this list and it also covers desserts and baking. I think our supermarkets are starting to restock the staples after the panic buy, but these retro recipes will help you through with what you have. Plus I Heart Naptime has a Easy Cooking Substitutions list for those having difficulty sourcing basics.
  • Edtya from Laundry Basket Quilts has been running a Mystery QAL and from the progress I've seen on social media, this is one stunning quilt. The link will take you to the first post containing all the information and links, so just jump in and get sewing :)
  • It's important to look after our mental health, and Jessica Sepel shared a great post on 7 Ways to Support Your Mental Health. There's so good basic tips in this post, so look after you! The Power of Social (Media) Distancing from Tiny Buddah is another great resource for those struggling with too much exposure! Be kind to you!
  • A Beautiful Mess has compiled a list of 25 Things To Do When Stuck At Home With Kiddos. There's lots of craft ideas, some ways to send thoughts and kindness to friends and family, and plenty of inspiration to keep your littlies entertained and away from things they aren't equipped to cope with just yet. Enjoy this precious time! Kat from the Organised Housewife also has a Stuck at Home Binder which is a free download full of printables and ideas to help children of all ages!

  • Quick finishes are good and I love these Crochet Puff Stripe Hot Pads from Daisy Farm Crafts. You could make a whole batch of these from your yarn stash and give them away as gifts (when this is all over). Sit back, relax and crochet and chose something to watch from this Best TV and Netflix guide from Amy at the Idea Room or Kat's Must Watch Netflix Shows and Movies.
  • Another quick and easy crochet finish is the Crochet Chocolate Bunny from Sewrella. This is super cute and Ashleigh has released this as a free pattern. You'll love this bunny for sure and it's another great project to work on while you're watching Netflix!

  • And lastly, how about this gorgeous Pastel Rainbow Quilt Tutorial from Allison at Woodberry Way? This is so pretty and its a quick finish quilt that you can involve the kids with. There's step by step photos and those gorgeous colours make you feel happy, right? I think this is a great project for those struggling with their attention span at the moment (all of us). Have fun!

And that's it for this week. I know it's more than seven, but we all need some additional support to get through this crisis. I hope these links are helpful and useful to you and they bring a little happiness to your Sunday.

Next week on the blog, I'm sharing my finished Easter Basket quilt (YAY!) and it's tutorial week in my Classic Quilt Blocks series which is always fun - this is the first of two tutorials!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe, stay healthy and stay home :)

Happy Week Ending :)
