Week Ending - July 12

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been kind. Mine, not so much! It's been a week of one bad thing after another, and it's taken a toll on my energy and my creativity. The next few weeks we'll be navigating specialists, surgery and recovery for my dad, so things may look a little different around here for awhile, as I'm sure you understand :)

I hope I've answered everyone's emails or messages over the last seven days, but if you're still waiting on a reply from me, it should arrive today. Thank you for your patience!

I haven't been in my sewing room all week (and I crave it so much) but I did find some wonderful projects that have me itching to create, and hopefully they'll inspire you too. Let's take a look:

  • Two of Wands released the Quarry Duster Crochet Pattern and this is the crochet version of the knit Falling Water Duster. This poncho has a gorgeous boho feel and the drape is gorgeous. It would be perfect for those chilly summer nights and an elegant addition to your wardrobe. It's a freebie pattern and looks like heaps of fun!
  • When life is stressful you just want to eat all the naughty things, right? I soooo want a slice of this No Bake Banana Split Dessert from I Heart Naptime. How yummy does that look? There's banana, pineapple and strawberries in this dessert, yum, yum, yum!
  • Sheri at A Quilting Life has 5 Quilt Ruler Storage Ideas that will help you organise your rulers and kept them safe in your sewing room. In addition, if you scroll to the end of the post she has some interesting links regarding all types of rulers, and there's lots of information to read.

  • Amber from Gigi's Thimble is hosting a Stash Hash Quilt Along and this quilt is gorgeous. It's such a fun scrappy quilt and she has all the details on her blog. You will need to purchase a pattern and then you can join in the Quilt Along on July 20th!
  • It's been a tough week for the Victorian population of Australia - a Covid outbreak has put them back in hard lockdown while the rest of us are going about life adhering to social distancing. Stay strong and stay safe guys! If your looking for a face mask pattern, then Diary of A Quilter has a DIY Quick and Easy Fabric Face Mask tutorial which may be helpful.

  • How cute is this Crochet Even Moss Baby Sweater from Daisy Farm Crafts? We'll know the gender of our first grandchild this week (so exciting) so I can get started on a few of these for him/her. So cute!
  • And last but not least, Skip To My Lou has a Homemade Apple Pie Filling recipe to use up your apple harvest. She's also included free labels to print and use on your jars. These would look so pretty in the pantry and perfect for gift giving.

And that's it for this week. I hope you found something new to create.

I'm not sure what next week will bring, but I'll post when I can. I do have that savory recipe I've been promising to share, and unfortunately this month's Classic Quilt Blocks series will have to wait until August. There's only me behind Threadbare, so when I'm needed elsewhere, nothing gets done - I need to find an assistant who's prepared to work for cookies and hugs! Anyone? :)

Take care of your loved ones, hug them tight, and keep them safe and healthy! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely!

Happy Week Ending :)

  2. Hopefully you can get to all the specialist visits during the Melb lockdown and that things are looking up soon. The baby jumper looks so cute and I have a new grandaughter who may be getting one now - thank you for the link. Sam the Aussie (in country Victoria)

    1. Hope you're safe and well Sam! Such a worrying time in Victoria. Navigating the hospital and doctors has been interesting during Covid. Some places you're allowed to go with the patient and others they have to go alone. I know it's for everyone's safety, but it's tough. Take care xx
