Week Ending - August 9

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create, every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! What a week it's been! I started my 30 Day Creativity Challenge and I'm feeling more like my old self again, it snowed in Launceston and caused huge excitement with the locals, and it was a calm and fun week for the first time in such a long time! Thank you universe!

A huge thanks to everyone who took the time to answer my newsletter poll the other week. Your input was invaluable and I can't wait to work on a design for you. To the person who suggested a new puppy in the suggestion box (aka my husband lol), ummmm NO! ;)

It's been cold here, but our days have been filled with glorious sunshine, and the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It inspired me to look for projects this week that encapsulate sunshine and happiness. Let's see what I found to inspire you:

  • First up is this Crochet Lemon Tote Bag from Repeat Crafter Me. This makes me happy and such a fun idea for a kids beach bag or carry all. You can change up the colour and make an orange, lime or grapefruit tote as well. So fun!
  • Skip to My Lou shared her Easy Strawberry Jam Recipe and the photos alone will have you drooling. Cindy included her tips for jam making and the canning process, plus fun ways to add labels for gifts etc. A great way to enjoy your summer berries all year long!

  • I'm loving the Glow Quilt Pattern from It's Sew Emma. It's such a happy quilt and those fabrics are so sweet. This pattern is available to purchase as an instant download at the FQS and it's fat quarter friendly!
  • How about a cool case for your sunglasses? Ned and Mimi have a Free Zippered Sunglass Case that is super chic and having a zip means you can use it for other smaller items as well (credit cards, lip balm etc). It's a great introduction project for tapestry crochet, and the instructions are very comprehensive.
  • For my EPP lovers, this Fruity Pineapple Quilted Placemat has to be your next project. This is fun and a great way to celebrate summer, sunshine and happiness! It's a free pattern and all the instructions and templates are on the Wild Olive blog.

  • I tried this Avocado Salad from Chocolate Covered Katie earlier in the week. I had a couple of friends over for lunch and we shared it on the patio (until we got too cold). It was so fresh and filling and there were no leftovers I assure you ;)
  • And last but not least, is the gorgeous Shape Shack project from The Tattooed Quilter. These little cuties are inspired by the small buildings Christopher's great grandmother would go to sew and socialise with friends. It's a free pattern and you'll love it!

So that's it for my sunshine inspired Week Ending post! Winter sunshine does bring happiness too, even if we're buried under sweaters, scarves and coats ;) I hope you found a fun new project to try!

Next week on the blog I'll be talking about where I buy and how I source fabric, and in my Classic Quilt Blocks series it's tutorial week, YAY!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely!

Happy Week Ending :)
