Week Ending - January 12

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been creative.

We're soaking up the freedom of our summer holidays with an extra-long break. Creative motivation is low as we linger in this season of adventure, playfulness, rest and relaxation. Our days happen organically, and time slows down as we move through summer carefree and content.

Today's Week Ending projects have my fingers itching to create something and hopefully they'll inspire you as well.

Let's go:

  • The Frog Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern from Stitch By Fay will add a playful touch to any space. Using the intarsia crochet method, it's worked in rows of single crochet and there's a small amount of applique to bring this kawaii frog to life. There is a chart included in the free pattern, so chose your preferred method of crochet colour changing. Super cute!
  • Gruyere cheese, sauteed mushrooms, caramelised onions and crisp pastry are simple ingredients done well and the French Onion Mushroom Tart recipe from The Cozy Apron is making my mouth water. Served with a fresh garden salad, a glass of wine and a warm summer evening's breeze, we'll be dining well tonight.

  • Starting the year with small projects can ease you back into slowly, and this Quick and Easy DIY Tea Cozy Tutorial from Days Filled with Joy will brighten your kitchen and elevate your morning cup of tea. The tutorial is comprehensive with clear photos to walk you through the pattern and a fantastic use of three pretty fat quarters.
  • I also found a sweet crochet Tea Cosy tutorial from Bella Coco on You Tube and I find it relaxing to watch people crochet. Beginner's will find this video very informative and easy to follow and there is a link in the description box for a written tutorial if you're confident to crochet without a tutorial.

  • Tuesday we've organised a (wading) pool party for the grandchildren, and I'm making a watermelon pizza (slab of watermelon spread with yoghurt and sprinkled with their favorite seasonal fruit) and a batch of Salted Brownie Cookies using Beyond the Butter's recipe. These cookies are decadent and fudgy, and I know Landon will head for the watermelon while Miss Iris will commandeer the cookie plate ;)
  • Make a head start on Valentine's Day projects with the free Sweetheart Valentine Placemats Pattern from Material Girl Quilts. They're such a fun and simple way to add some seasonal decor to your home and a wonderful project to work on if you're looking for creative motivation.
  • For my fellow book lovers, why not crochet an Envelope Style Book Sleeve using the free pattern from Stitchberry Blog. Madeline had requested something to protect her Kindle and books, and I thought this might work because we can adjust the pattern for different sizes.

And that's it for this week. I hope these projects have inspired you!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
