Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!
Happy Sunday lovely and welcome to another creative year!
Joining a quilt along (QAL) or crochet along (CAL) instills a sense of belonging and community, with the opportunity to learn a new skill and create with like-minded people. A beautiful new project will spark your creativity and you'll be supported and guided every step of the way.
I'm starting my 2025 Week Ending posts with an array of inspiring QAL's and CAL's currently on offer, to encourage you to join one of these rewarding programs and create something beautiful.
Let's go:
- During 2025, the Fat Quarter Shop is hosting the Vintage Christmas Quilt Along featuring block patterns from Lori Holt. These nostalgic blocks are delightful and working on this quilt will keep the magic of Christmas alive all year long. There are forty-two traditional and novelty 6" blocks to sew, from stars to adorable gingerbread men and ice skates.
- NautiKrall Crochet is running the subscription based Succulent CAL 2025. There are twelve new Hue Loco yarn colourways available and by signing up you will receive one skein per month to crochet your granny squares - the sunburst granny square and the solid granny square - and joining instructions will be shared at the end of the year.
- Grandma's Kitchen is a place where memories are made, and love is shared. Pat Sloan is hosting her quilt along from January to June to pay homage to grandmothers and take a trip down memory lane. This QAL has been run before so you can take a quick peek at all the gorgeous blocks and quilts sewn previously.
- Lindsay from Lottie and Albert ran the Blossom and Buds Spring CAL in 2024 for the gorgeous blanket above and the free patterns are still available. I had to include this one because I fell in love with the flowerbeds of tulips, the daisies and the falling blossom on the soft green grass. Create a picture-perfect picnic or add a hint of spring to your favorite chair with this stunning blanket.
- Love a mystery quilt? Corey from Coriander Quilts is hosting the 2025 Mystery QAL BOM using Cali & Co. fabrics. There is a fabric requirement list or kits available to purchase and it sounds like an ideal way to sew, join a community and have fun.
- Rose City Yarn Crawl host two mystery alongs - one CAL and one KAL (knit along). Early bird clues can be discovered now by purchasing the patterns and it all begins on January 15th. This is a garment mystery and a wonderful opportunity to learn or freshen up your crochet and knitting skills.
- And for my recipe lovers, if you're looking for an online cooking class to improve your skills, Abundance of Flavour has a 21 Basic Cooking Skills series that deep dives into knife skills, food safety, food prep, reading recipes and many other topics to allow you to enjoy time in the kitchen. Work your way through the series weekly and start cooking like a pro!
And that's it for the first Week Ending post of 2025!
Choosing which QAL's or CAL's to join this year is exciting and they will be more available throughout the year as we celebrate special events and prepare for changing seasons - I'll keep you posted!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)
Happy Week Ending :)
