Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!
Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been kind.
Life invaded my creative time this week, but I was so grateful to be present for my grandson's first day at school and see his sweet, exhausted face at pick up time. We also celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary and Valentine's Day, and I dealt with our summer garden harvest - our pantry's stocked for the colder months and as grateful as I am for our harvest, if I never see another tomato any time soon, I'll be happy! ;)
My creative total for the whole week was ten granny squares. It was small progress, but my autumn inspired project is moving closer to completion.
Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:
- Tonight's dinner is the Street Corn Chicken Rice Bowl from I Heart Meals. We have fresh corn from the garden, and I spotted two limes ready to pick so it will be a quick and easy recipe using some of our produce. It has a hint of Mexican flair and looks delicious. Perfect for a quiet Sunday dinner outside as we enjoy these last days of summer.
- With her big brother at school, little Miss Iris is enjoying quality girl time with mummy, and I found the Easy May Day Flower Purse pattern from Stitch and Hound which will be perfect for their daily outings. She'll love filling it with her girlie things and having a bag just like her mumma does. An easy and free pattern to crochet and a special gift handmade by Nanna.
- I've fallen in love with the Animal Quilt from Quilts and Nice Stuff. Each block features a cute animal design and there are 25 block to purchase, or you can buy the bundle of blocks as a special deal in her Etsy shop - there are two bonus blocks with this option, I believe. This is traditional piecing and such a fun and rewarding quilt project to work on.
- I have two friends celebrating a birthday next week and as they're avid readers I'm making them both a Floral Bookmark from 100 Directions. Book shopping for friends is fun and while I found novels I hope they'll enjoy, the book shop sadly lacked pretty bookmarks. There's nothing else to do but create your own, right? You will need a Cricut or equivalent for this project.
- Spin Cushions has four free granny squares blocks pattern available on her website called the Compass Rose Granny Squares and these are stunning. Named North, South, East and West these squares could be used for literally any crochet project and their design is innovative and clever. I'm a longtime fan or Shelley's designs and I'm positive you'll have fun with these squares.
- On my list to try next week are the Milo Lamingtons from Taste Australia, and I'm simply taking inspiration from this recipe. Hubby adores lamingtons, I could eat Milo by the spoonful, so this is the perfect collab for a special treat. The recipe does use a store brought cake, but I will be baking my butter cake, adding some homemade jam, the milo buttercream and coating the lamingtons traditionally. Yum!
- To know a cosy, slow autumn is on its way to Australia makes me so happy, but in the northern hemisphere you're about to head into a rejuvenating spring. The Field of Tulips Quilt Pattern from Sewn Up Patterns is simply stunning and the perfect way to add some spring decor to your home. The PDF pattern is available in her Etsy shop with links to You Tube videos designed to help you every step of the way. You'll love this design!
And that's it for another week. I hope you found something fun to create.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)
Happy Week Ending :)
