Week Ending - April 6

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been creative and fun!

Our grandchildren have been busy using their hands and imagination for Easter. Landon's class is crafting including an Easter Bonnet to participate in the school parade - it was so adorable - and Miss Iris has been busy painting, colouring, gluing and embellishing a whole range of items with mummy.

Crafts handmade by children are the absolute best! They're an expression of their excitement, wonder of mediums, self-confidence and their own creativity and imagination. My heart breaks when they bring me something they've created with their sweet little hands.

Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:

  • The Easter Tulip Egg Holder from Crochet Bits is a free pattern and its adorable. Your eggs can nestle between the petals of the tulip, and if you're in the northern hemisphere they will add a touch of spring to your Easter table. These would also make lovely gifts, and they look easy to crochet.
  • Any child would love to find a sweet Felt Bunny with Embroidery in their Easter Basket this year, and Sew Toy has a free tutorial for you to use. You could personalise the bunny with their names, embroidered flowers, charms or tiny beads - be creative and have fun!

  • We're all a sucker for a cute dessert and the Mini Easter Egg Cakes from A Latte Food will have everyone grabbing for a sweet treat. These egg-shaped cakes are filled with marshmallow buttercream and then dipped in vanilla almond bark before decorating. They not only look amazing, but they sound delicious.
  • A lovely way to use up your fabric scraps is to decoupage some Lovely Liberty Easter Eggs using Alice Caroline's free tutorial. She has used Liberty prints for her eggs, but any scraps will work, and you can match your colour theme for Easter. Hang them on an Easter tree or a branch from the garden and create a stunning centerpiece that's festive and fun.

  • How precious is the Little Lamb Zippy Critter from Stubbornly Crafty? Bunnies and chicks can be seen everywhere at this time of year, but the lamb tends to be forgotten. This handmade pouch can be filled with eggs, pencils, craft supplies or simply given as a gift for Easter. The PDF pattern is available for purchase in their Etsy store.
  • Cat lovers will adore the Easter Kitty Crochet Pattern from Thoresby Cottage. It's a cute crochet egg with a surprise kitty amigurumi inside to delight the receiver and both patterns are free to use - the link to the kitty is in the opening paragraph of the blog post. So fun!
  • The Paska Easter Bread recipe from Let the Baking Begin is a traditional Slavic recipe that is a mix between Italian Panettone and French Brioche, YUM! It's studded with chunks of white chocolate and rum soaked dried berries and is perfect for Easter afternoon tea.

And that's it for another week. I hope you found something fun to create for Easter.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
