Week Ending - January 18

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers. Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope you've had a creative week.

Hubby has one more week of holidays left and we're making the most of it. Inevitably we will have to return to the real world but we're holding on tight to these last few days of peaceful relaxation and isolation.

I did find some lovely projects for you this week, so let's go:

  • Dinner tonight is the Creamy Ricotta Chicken and Orzo Skillet from The Defined Dish. I've been craving something cheesy and comforting and this looks delicious. Paired with a salad and homemade sourdough, this recipe will be a wonderful Sunday night's dinner in the backyard with the family.
  • I love the Modern Crochet Poncho with Pompoms from DIY's Craftsy. This poncho is elegant, lightweight but warm, has a gorgeous drape and I'm sure it will become a staple in the wardrobe. The pattern is free to use, and it looks easy to follow. A fun project that's both practical and beginner friendly.

  • Have you seen Amber's (Gigi's Thimbles) new pattern Vintage Valentine yet? She has sewn this quilt in two gorgeous versions - light and dark - but the dramatic dark version is my favorite. This fat quarter friendly quilt has a cosy antique feel and what a stunning way to decorate for Valentines Day. Patterns are available in hardcopy and PDF, and all the details are in her blog post.
  • For those of you looking forward to spring the Tulip Meadows Baby Blanket from Daisy Farm Crafts might be the perfect project. Rows of colourful puff stitches bring spring indoors in such a subtle way. The pattern is free to use and easy to adapt to a larger sized blanket. A gorgeous pattern.

  • Saving Room For Dessert has a recipe for Oatmeal Jammys and they look delicious. They're a tart like oatmeal cookie filled with jam and decorated with strudel around the edges. The cookies are buttery and tender, and you can fill them with a variety of your favorite jams. The grandchildren will love these and I can't wait to bake a batch.
  • Looking for a star block pattern with a difference? The Woven Star Quilt Block from Maker Mary is a comprehensive tutorial for a stunning 12" star block. It's a beautiful block and you'll be able to use it for so many quilting projects. Have fun!
  • This time of year has us decluttering and reorganising to start the new year off right, so if you need some ideas on fabric storage check out 7 Ways I Re-Organize My Quilting Fabric from Whole Circle Studio. There are some clever ideas in this post and it's always fun to see how others organise their fabric and sewing rooms.

And that's it for another week. I hope you feel inspired and ready to create.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely. Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
