Week Ending - April 19

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been kind.

Last week I found projects for both autumn and spring - my two favorite seasons - and I decided to do it again for this post. Both seasons are the prettiest and most colourful times of the year, and you can draw so much inspiration from nature and incorporate it into your creative time.

Let's see what I found:

  • We're off on a foliage drive today, so tonight's dinner is the Simple Tuscan Chickpea Soup from Alright With Me. This soup comes together in under an hour and is packed with hearty flavours to warm the soul. For those in spring, how about the Lemon Chickpea Orzo Soup recipe from Mason Recipes? This one is zesty and filled with bright vegetables and perfect for those cooler spring nights.
  • Make and Do Crew has the Patchwork Party Cardi pattern free on their site and this cardigan is perfect for colder autumn days or those crisp spring mornings. Select your colour palette based on the season you think you'll wear it most or crochet a version for both seasons.

  • This next one is for all four seasons but it's too good not to share. The Season's Blessing Quilt Pattern from Suzy's Sitcom Store is a masterpiece of applique and patchwork telling the story of every season. Each quadrant of the quilt depicts a season, and you find something new each time you look at it. The pattern is available for purchase in her Etsy shop. Simply stunning!
  • Scrappy quilts are a great way to use up your stash but to also incorporate seasonal colours into your decorating. The Jacob's Ladder Nine Patch Quilt Pattern from Blue Elephant Stitches is all the inspiration you need to grab your fabric bins and make something beautiful. Think rich earthy and golden tones for autumn and pretty pastels and brights for spring.

  • Our apple trees gifted us profusely this year so I'm going to bake the Apple Rosemary Focaccia Bread recipe from Cravings of a Lunatic this week and I'm excited. It's the perfect mix of sweet and savory and sounds delicious.  For those in spring, try the Perfect Herb Garden Focaccia from Grubella.
  • The Granny Stripe Stitch is a versatile pattern for blankets and great for beginners. Crochetpedia has a free tutorial and some lovely colourway examples that scream autumn or spring. I love working granny stitches this way - it makes a pretty pattern, and you can be as creative as you like with colour.
  • Nature journals are a fun way for me to relax, paint, draw, colour, collect and record everything I see and grow. Our granddaughter Iris shares her nanna's love of the great outdoors, so I started her a journal of her own. There's a great article HERE and HERE on the benefits of journalling with kids and this is a project I can do with her while babysitting. We collect seeds, press flowers, draw creatures and discuss nature and all its wonders. A fun activity for this time of year.

And that's it for another week. I hope you found something fun to create.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
