Week Ending - April 5

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week.

Happy Easter Sunday lovely! I hope your celebrations have brought you peace and joy.

As a family we're working on an autumnal jigsaw, the chess board is out, and we've relaxed with books and movies. A candlelit bubble bath tonight sounds incredible to me, with a homemade rose petal bath bomb and a relaxing glass of wine - bliss!

I thought I'd find some relaxing projects for you this week. These are projects you can do by hand as you enjoy this wonderful Easter season, so let's go:

  • Knitting World on YouTube has a video tutorial for a Crochet Flower and this pattern is so satisfying and relaxing to watch. The flower is gorgeous and it looks very easy to recreate. Make a whole vase full of these cuties and enjoy their delicate and realistic texture.
  • Tonight's dinner is the Chicken Marsala Pasta recipe from Grandmom's Recipe. I'm made this before and it is delicious. It's comforting, rich, earthy and a cosy dish for an autumnal Sunday night dinner.

  • Hand stitch a stunning and versatile Needle Case or Pincushion from any of the wonderful designs on Val Laird Designs website. There are so many patterns to choose from, and each one contains the sweetest embroidery to keep your hands busy while your body relaxes. I think my favorite is the Busy Bees Pincushion (pictured).
  • My nan always wore a brooch, and I have a few of them framed because they're special to me. I saw the Romantic Rose Crochet Brooch pattern from Anabelia Craft Design, and I knew my nan would have worn this with pride.  A fun, free project that can be used as a brooch or as applique on scarves, hats etc.

  • How delicious do these Forgotten Cookies from Finds Foodsy look? These cookies have a meringue base, are filled with chocolate chips and they are put in a preheated oven which is immediately switched off and the cookies stay overnight and "forgotten" as they dry out. These are on my list to bake next week.
  • The Tea Party Mini Quilt from Northern Belle Atelier is a wonderful hand sewn project with embroidery and EPP to keep you lingering longer in your comfortable chair. The designs are darling and a PDF pattern can be purchased from their Etsy shop.
  • Ever thought about Hand Piecing - Sewing For Pleasure and Peace? The Repro Quilter has a wonderful post about the benefits of hand piecing and how to break down large projects. She shares her tips for a hand pieced Postage Stamp Quilt and it's very inspiring. Give it a read!

And that's it for this week lovely. I hope these projects inspired you to relax and create in a peaceful way.

Enjoy the rest of your Easter Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
