Week Ending - May 24

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been creative.

Our trip to the countryside left me relaxed and inspired. It's therapeutic to surround yourself with sights, sounds and smells that make you pause and simply breathe.

The seaside doesn't have that magical effect on me, but I thought it might be fun to make this week's Week Ending post sea themed and see if it sparks inspiration.

Let's go:

  • The Octopus Quilt Block Pattern from Joe June and Me is so fun. I fell in love with Marcellus the Octopus in the book (and later the movie) Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Did you? The PDF block pattern contains four sizes and is available as an instant download in their Etsy shop.
  • Your Crochet has a wonderful tutorial for the Shell Stitch Crochet Pattern. You'll learn the stitch and crochet a swatch with this tutorial but it's easy to adapt to a full-size blanket with their helpful tips. The Shell Stitch is gorgeous, and it makes the prettiest projects. Give it a try!

  • Gourmet Martha has shared a recipe for her Creamy Shrimp and Crab Alfredo Pasta Bake and I'm eager to try this. Rich garlic butter, delicious seafood and melted cheese make this the perfect dish to share with the family. It sounds amazing and easy to prepare.
  • For a simple patchwork block pattern, try the Seashells Quilt Block from The Sewing Loft blog. This pattern includes two sizes - 6" and 12" square - and its available for download on her site for a small price. Quick, easy, pretty and versatile.

  • Starfish Dance from Devoted Quilter is a stunning mini quilt pattern that is free once you sign up to their newsletter. The starfish are appliqued using raw edge and there is so much negative space to play around with your quilting techniques. So pretty and fun!
  • Awaken your mermaid dreams with the Free Crochet Mermaid Tail Blanket pattern from Lovable Loops. The pattern includes three sizes (child, teen and adult), and it uses basic stitches. This is so fun and the pattern looks easy to follow.
  • Indulge in the rich flavours of the Gordon Ramsey Lobster Salad from Emery Recipe. Its effortless and will impress your guests and can be served as a starter for a dinner party or in buns as a casual lunch. This one is one my must make list - it sounds delicious.

And that's it another week! I hope these seaside themed projects inspired you.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happ Week Ending :)
