Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week.
How are you celebrating the winter/summer solstice? We're having a family dinner and a book and chocolate swap. We adopted this Icelandic tradition a few years ago and it's a wonderful way to celebrate our longest night.
We're a book loving family and while Kindle gives us instant access to any title, nothing beats browsing our local bookshop and the thrift shops/book fairs/markets. One of my favorite things is finding random bookmarks like postcards, boarding passes or receipts in a secondhand book. An inscription makes it even more special.
This week's Week Ending theme is book related. I hope these seven projects inspire you:
- The anticipation of finding the book you really want to read at the library has changed with online ordering. There are still a few rows of books, but I miss the old days of wall-to-wall fiction to peruse. The Library Tote Sewing Pattern from Dori Troutman is a free pattern and it's perfect to hold all your books from the library, the book shop or a thrifting trip.
- Do you host book club? Unexpectedly Domestic has a post with 45 Sweet & Savory Book Club Snacks that will make hosting easy and enjoyable. There's everything from cakes to dips and you'll find it difficult to choose what to try first.
- I still believe in 398.2. Do you? The Fairy Tale Frog Quilt Pattern from Modern Charm Stitchery uses traditional patchwork piecing and there are two sizes included in the pattern. It brings to life the German fairy tale The Frog King and its adorable. PDF patterns are available for purchase in their Etsy shop.
- The Crochet Sensory Book from Winding Road Crochet is a free pattern and this is wonderful. Every page is a sensory delight for your little one and it's a great way to learn new crochet stitches without a huge commitment - they are essentially sample blocks bound into a book. A fun gift idea to start a baby's journey in reading.
- The Bookworm Snack Mix from The Crafting Chicks is a fun and adaptable way to elevate anyone's reading experience. It's a clever way to entice kids to slow down and open a book but I'm sure adults would enjoy snacking as they got lost in a story. Make this your own and choose snacks that the whole family will enjoy.
- Crochet For You Blog has the Checkered Book Sleeve Pattern free on their site. This is a lovely way to protect your books while out and about and you could personalise it with applique, embroidery or embellishments. Cute and fun!
- The Novel Idea Quilt Pattern from Anka's Treasures is stunning. It's traditionally pieced with templates and finishes at around 45" x 59". Book lovers will absolutely love this! The printed pattern is available for purchase on Etsy in Hartland Quilt Shop's store.
And that's it for another week. I hope you found something bookish to create.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely. Stay safe and well :)
Happy Week Ending :)
