Giveaway!!

My new design is all finished and ready for sale, so i decided to have some fun and have a "giveaway"!!!! I have 3 patterns up for grabs, so just leave a comment here and i will get the family to help with the draw on Tuesday nite!!!

Now i did promise that this design comes with a story (like all of my designs actually lol)....this cushion is a tribute to my grandmothers:

When i was born (wayyyyyyy back in 1967) i was a "fifth generation girl"....the above photo is of me (aint i just soooo cute....sorta lol its the way my mother dressed me), my mother, my grandmother, my great grandmother and my great great grandmother........all the eldest, all girls!!! Now i heard this story countless times whilst growing up and it really meant nothing to me............27 years later i gave birth to my daughter, Madeline and again the family saw 5 generations (all girls!!!).........the importance of that still didnt register!!!

Maybe cause im close to turning 40 and life is so much clearer, ive really realised the significance of this..........our family may not experience this again (or at least not in the near future). I am fortunate enough to "really know" the women before me........i can see both their strengths and their weaknesses in me...........i am who i am because of them!!!

Each of the women in that photo have shaped me, have overcome their own hardships, have experienced joy, suffered sadness, have loved and have been loved.........im proud to be part of that photo, that moment in time...........this design is for them!!!!

Good luck with the draw
Happy stitching

  3. What a wonderful tribute to your family! I've not known many families that have 5 generations of women in the family alive at the same time. What an honor to have a picture of them!

  4. I had to wipe the tears before I could comment! Your story of the women in your family is wonderful. You know I am a sap for that family, generational stuff and even more so since I became a grandmother a couple of years ago. Your pattern is beautiful. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I can stitch it up and put it in my house!

  5. I am only just younger than you, born in '68 and we have only ever had 4 generations. My Nan is 93, then my mum, then me, then my girls - 5 and 3.

    I have my fingers crossed!

  6. My grandmother is so dear to my heart...I know that what I do today is a result of her talent with needles and thread. To honor her with such a tribute is awesome! I hope that I can win a pattern so that I can pass my love forward...I will be a new Grandmother in September...for the first time! I can hardly wait!

  7. Congrats on the pattern release Rose. Wow five generations, that's awesome. I adored my Nana, she taught me so much and was a great tailor, she passed on her knowledge to my mum who passed it on to me, although neither of them ever quilted. Now I have everything crossed, hoping that my name will be drawn. Can I bribe you?...lol....

  22. Greetings from a fellow Tassie girl..came across your blog again this afternoon while spending time with family in NSW as we gather around to care and look after our grandma who will soon be departed from this life (maybe only hours away). Memories are such precious possessions..they allow us as a family to continue to share all the wonderful years spent growing up with our grandma. Grandma you will aways be remembered & loved x

  26. I'd love to be entered. Thank you for sharing your 5 generations story. Would you happen to have individual pictures of any or all of those women that you'd be happy to e-me to use in my Moms quilt project? I'm using moms, grandmas, MILs, aunts - significant women. I'd love to include yours!

  29. Oh, Rose! What a lovely tribute to the women of your family! You are s lucky to have known them! My grandmother on my Dad's side died before I was born, and my Mom's mother died two weeks before my third birthday, so I don't really remember her :( Treasure your memories and be proud of the way the women have participated in shaping the lovely person you are!
    Lots of hugs from me
