A little bit of therapy sewing was in order, so I have started working on the borders for my SBS quilt. Anne Ida suggested I use the Right Hand of Friendship block as my inspiration, which was the perfect choice. This quilt was the starting point of a very dear friendship between the two of us and I think it is going to be quite effective:
I will be continuing with the "scrappy" theme as I am finally coming to the end of some of the fabrics I used in the blocks. Its nice and quick to complete, so hopefully in a few days the borders will be attached and I can start to plan the quilting!
I would really like to thank everyone for the lovely, warm comments, emails and SMS's over the last few days. I have tried to reply to everyone. At a time when things were so scary and traumatic, it was wonderful to reach out and receive such amazing support. Our family thanks you all!!!

I love that border. I have yet to try a pieced border. It looks perfect for the quilt. And as I believe I have commented before, this quilt is absolutely spectacular. Stunning. I love it.

ReplyDeleteThis is going to be great! Your sbs will be finished before mine. I have had to be very careful the last months, as my hands and arms have been aching...But I have started my border...
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of the "Right Hand of Friendship" block before but I think it is wonderful on your border. I am going to have to look for the pattern so I can see how its made - unless you would care to do a little tutorial..hint hint.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences to you and your entire family for your loss.
