Gingerbread Giveaway!!

Its hard to believe that Xmas is fast approaching......where has this year gone?? My new Xmas designs may be a little late but they are quick and easy projects to stitch whilst listening to the Carols as we wait for Santa!!!
I love this little cushion "Xmas At My House". Every year I always plan on making the kids a Gingerbread House and I have the kit with templates and icing nozzles, but I never seem to find the time! This way Ill have a house which I can bring out at Xmas for the family to enjoy!!

The other pattern, "A Family Xmas" is a sweet little wallhanging. I knew I would use those Gingerbread cookie cutters I brought, eventually.....they made great templates to draw around (can you tell Im full of good intentions?? lol).

I find it challenging to work with Xmas fabrics but I think the red/white/blue colour combinations on both designs give them that festive feel!

So I have 2 sets of patterns (1 of each pattern, per set) up for grabs!! If you would like to squeeze in some stitching before Santa arrives, leave a comment on this post and to make it fun......share with me one of your Xmas family traditions. Ill draw the 2 winners next week!

And whats our family tradition?? Every Xmas Eve, we sprinkle reindeer food on the front lawn (oatmeal and glitter) and then we drive around the city looking at the Xmas lights, eating ice cream! Just before bed, we read the kids "A Rugrats Night Before Xmas"(which is just a fun rendition of the original) and then its lights out!!

  8. These stitcheries put an instant smile on my face. I would have time to do these before xmas. Every Christmas eve we fix chili and cornbread for family and friends. One pot spicy and one that's mild. We make sure it's done early because there's a constant flow of people coming and going. It is so much fun to see everyone and watch movies with them.

  9. Isnt Xmas just the best time of year. My 8 and 4 year old made pom pom snowmen last weekend. The designs look gorgeous, especially the family xmas one. Our favourite tradition is December 1 and putting up the tree as a family with the christmas music on and decorating the house. Sets the spirit for the whole month I would love to win these gorgeous stitcheries too. Thanks so much

  10. Love your patterns and I would love to make some christmas cushions.
I am SO a christmas person. Love everything about christmas and have a lot of traditions. One that is very important now is to visit my mother at the old peoples home at christmas eve and spend some time with her.

  12. What lovely stitcheries. No matter how hard I try I always end up with loads of pressie wapping on Xmas eve, every year i say I will be organised... every year I'm not.

  13. Oh-oh-oh, they are finished! And they are fabulous, sweetie! I especially love that gingerbread house! I have told you that my sis and I used to make a ginger bread house almost every year growing up? One year we even made a whole little village, and decorated it with little candles made out as fir trees and snow men. Perhaps we'll do it again this year :o)

  14. Our Christmas tradition is trying to work out how to spend time with both extended families. Makes for lots of driving, sometimes in unpleasant weather. White Christmases are great unless you're driving 400 miles while it's snowing!

    The stitcheries are beautiful!

  15. Ooohhh...love those sticheries... We have loads of Christmas traditions..Decorating my 90 year old Dad's place with lights... and lights!! All the family home.. even the ones that live here!! Church at midnight... just the girls and the grandkids.. Ham and eggs and mango for a quick breakfast. Then opening the presents.. littlest to biggest [except for Dad..at 90 he goes first...he wouldn't wait anyway]. The big hot lunch..all the trimmings. [It's summer here and hot]...then the nap.. and playing with the toys..depending on how old [or tired] you are!! Then... whatever you like for tea... anything... or nothing.. plum pudding and custard.. cherries.. cake... OOohhh what a wonderful day!! Ooh I forgot... please enter me in your draw. Rainbow smiles.. Gloria

  16. As it summer here in Nz we do not have a hot dinner on Christmas day we have a picnic with a range of great food. Every year we go to the local Christmas shop and our youngest buys a christmas decoration to hang on the christmas tree. The aim in one a year is that when she has a home of her own she will have a special box of christmas decorations to hang on her own christmas tree with all of the memories from over the years. Plese count me in

  17. I can't think of any family Christmas traditions we follow any more now that the kids are grown and one has of them has a grown child. We are all scattered around any more. When I was young, we always opened all the presents on Christmas Eve so that my parents could have a good night's sleep. With my kids, they got to open one present of their choice on Christmas Eve and the rest Christmas morning. We usually drive around and see Christmas lights very close to the big day.

  18. These two stitcherys are so cute. I especially love the gingerbread cottage. On of my traditions, first with my kids and now my grandkids is to make them all a pair of PJ's and than the nite before christmas they get to open the package and wear their new PJ's to bed.

  19. Thank you for the chance to enter your giveaway! One of our traditions is to read The Polar Express beside the Christmas tree on Christmas eve. My boys are all late teens/twenties but they still sit and listen! We also try to visit the Fatima Shrine near our home but that doesn't always happen every year if the weather is too bad/cold in the week before Christmas.

  20. the family christmas stitchery is the one that i am most drawn to as our christmas traditions are firmly based around family. it all begins with the trees being put up and decorated on the closest weekend to the 1st of Dec (red and gold tree in the formal living room; blue and silver in the family room). Special decorations are purchased every year (son 19, daughter 16, and an angel for our benjamin who never had the chance to experience christmas). On christmas eve J and V are allowed to open one gift just before we head out to enjoy chritmas lights and icecream. When we return home stockings are left (yes even now that they are older), a beer and chocolate for santa and some carrots and water for the reindeer. then, at 6 am it's time to see what presents have been left for the boy and the girl. a brekky of pancakes and crossiant before jumping in the car for our 4 hour drive for christmas dinner at my parents home. My dad cooks for the 28 of us (he starts the day before) we all take our seats and wait for grace before beginning our traditional christmas dinner (beef, lamb, turkey, chicken, ham + many baked vegies, oh and gravy). Dessert is a homebaked plum pud with cream, custard or ice-cream, and for those that don't like pud - that's all the more for the rest of us! lol. We then move to the gift giving part of the day where we exchange gifts in a structured and ordered manner. Then by aternoon tea it is time to thik about visiting in-laws for a cold ham and salad tea and more sharing. We reflect on the day and the joy that being together as a family brings as we set off for our comfy beds 4 hours away, knowing that as hectic as it is we will do the same again next year. i love christmas and being part of a huge family is just brings life back to those things that are important and that we hold most dear - each other.
    Merry Christmas.

  21. Patterns look good enough to eat.
My favorite Christmas tradition is to sit at home, preferably alone so that no one else spoils the show by comments and watch Carols by Candlelight in the Melbourne Myer Music Bowel.
I sang in the choir the first time the carols were held in the bowl and still have the program.

  23. The sticheries are great. A christmas tradition ... well, my grandmother taught me to bake all the kinds of christmas cookies which we have every year in our family, and I now have to bake them every year for everyone thinking of my grandma, she was so great.

  24. I really do stitching and this would be the perfect present for my sisters in law with Christmas!

One of the days we always eat pizza because I also have Christmas and don't want to stand in the kitchen all day.
After a verry lovely walk in the woods a slice of the pizza by the fireplace is a lovely end of the day.

  25. On Christmas eve, we get together and have a light meal, play games and give away "White Elephant" gifts. This is usually very funny.
I love your patterns. Thanks for including me in your giveaway.

  28. Clam Chowder and Christmas Eve candlelight service are two of my favorite traditions. Your stitcheries are lovely and thanks for the chance to win.

  29. We always go to the candle light service at church, have Swedish meatballs amongst other food then open gifts. There are always real gingerbread cookies readily available at Christmas time at our house,so that would be a cool addition to my holiday decor.

  30. Our favorite family tradition is our Christmas dinner. Once we determine how many of us will be here for the dinner we write one course per person on a slip of paper. The slips are put into a bowl and each person draws a slip. Whatever is on the slip the person is responsible for providing for the dinner - no matter how crazy it may seem. The first time we did this my children were 10 and younger. We have nachos, pepperoni pizza, broccoli and cheese and Gatorade. 20 years later, my now adult children still ask if we are going to do our Christmas dinner.

I love those stitcheries and would enjoy working on them. Please enter me in the drawing.

  31. These are both adorable. We usually celebrate Christmas on another day - so that the family can meet with their in-laws on the actual day, so the day itself generally consisted of going to the movies and / or doing a special Christmas tree puzzle.

  32. what georgeous patterns! And you know what, I too have one of those gingerbread house kits too...which hasn't been used yet. Touring the christmas lights is one of our favourite traditions too, and I also love the carols on tv and decorations and songs in the shops.

  35. Love your new patterns, they are both so sweet! For the past 4 years we've celebrated Christmas at the cabin in the mountains with my family. It's so quiet and peaceful- no one else is up there but us. This year we'll be gathering at our house though since my Grandma (age 93) is getting a bit to old for the inconvenience of an outhouse in the middle of winter....I would love to make your pretty stitcheries for our Christmas at home :-)

  36. I just love those stitcheries, great way to spend some time over my favourite time of year.
Our family tradition- we set up the tree on the first weekend in December, then decorate the house on the same day. Very tiring, but the kids (and me) love the excitement and anticipation of changing the house from boring to shiny and exciting.

  39. Our family Christmas tradition is to sit down in front of the telly and watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation...cheesy, I know, but that silver dish speeding down the hill gets me every time!!!!!
We also get to open one gift each on Christmas eve..and set out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer (even though my son is now nearly 15, we still have to do it!!!)

    Thanks Rose....love your blog.

  40. Your christmas designs are very cute, and just to let you know your garden quilt touched my heart, it is beautiful. One of our traditions at Christmas time is baking cookies with all the daughters and daughter-in-laws. Since my children are all married we take a day and do every family cookie recipe and then let the grand kids decorate. Thanks for the chance to win your patterns.

  42. Christmas morning the kids were allowed to get up early and open their stockings gifts and surprises.....then they had to wait for the adults to get up for the rest of gift opening.

Love your designs, thanks for a chance to win,

  43. Oh these are both so cute. Growing up our Christmas tradition was always to leave the decorations out along with the cookies and a fresh cut Christmas tree and when Santa came he would eat cookies and decorate the tree so the first time we would see it lit was Christmas morning.

  44. Love your stitcheries! So sweet.

Our Christmas traditions include making the same foods every year. Certain cookies, coffe cake, etc., have become traditions for generations now. All the kids (grown up kids too) look forward to it. So fun!

  45. Well I normally take my Granddaugher to see all the Christmas lights since that wont be happening this year I guess I'll be stitching :)

  46. Some lovely patterns. Our Christmas or rather my husbands Christmas tradition would be watching the Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation Movie, you know the one about all the Christmas lights etc.

  47. I'm working on my very first embroidery ever, so someone sent me over to look at your amazing work. As something to aspire to, I hope, rather than to discourage me when I see how awesome yours are. Anyway, I could certainly use some patterns. My favorite Xmas tradition is probably one that everyone has - turning on Nat King Cole, pulling out the ribbon candy and nuts, and decorating the tree with strung cranberries and popcorn, white lights, red & white candycanes, and an eclectic mix of homemade ornaments.

  48. Gingerbread people are my favorite! I just bought some brown material with little pink hearts yesterday to experiment with some new people. I love to stitch-My dh likes me by his side while he watches the telly, so I get a lot of it done in the evenings. We always have soup supper on Christmas eve and exchange a silly gift. Thank you for the chance to win.
