The Ultimate Quilt Journal - Preserve the Story of Your Quilt

Every quilt tells a story and your work becomes part of your legacy! Record your quilt's story in The Ultimate Quilt Journal and preserve a piece of history!

Every quilt tells an important story, from the fabric you select to the design of your quilt label. Your quilts reflect what you consider to be beautiful, the current trends, your beliefs and values and your creative spirit.

They are your legacy!

The quilts you sew today will one day be considered antique, holding valuable history and an insight into the life you lived and who you were as a quilter.

We record our quilting journeys on Facebook, Instagram etc., but as quickly as social media sashayed into our lives, it could sashay its way back out and all that vital information will be lost!

I've designed The Ultimate Quilt Journal as a way to preserve the story of your quilts and your creative journey.

The Ultimate Quilt Journal is a 30-page PDF file filled to the brim with everything you'll need to record the story of your quilt.

There are pages for fabric swatches and photos, graph paper to draft blocks, quilts and your quilt label, and pages where you can share your inspiration and reflect on the process.

There are tables for cutting requirements, block tallies, and statistic tables to record time spent making the quilt and the overall cost - this will give insight to future generations.

The Ultimate Quilt Journal is also a valuable tool in the sewing room, especially if you're designing your own quilts or you're making adjustments to patterns.

There are two pages for each of the block piecing methods - traditional, FPP, EPP and applique - print as many of those as you need for each quilt. You can record the cutting requirements, FPP templates and EPP and applique shapes, and mark off the checkboxes when the cutting is done.

You can also keep notes, record your block progress and draft a block design of your own.

Plan the layout of your quilt using the graph sheet in The Ultimate Quilt Journal, and record the construction of the quilt top, quilting details and finishing touches - including quilt labels, embellishments and hanging sleeve etc.

At the end you can tally up the time spent on each quilt process, and also the total cost of materials.

There's a four-page photo gallery for adding photos of your quilt and make sure you are in at least one of these photos so people can see the person behind the quilt. :)

The Ultimate Quilt Journal holds so much information! Some sections require written details and others can be recorded by ticking the relevant checkbox.

There are note pages at the back of the journal to add extra thoughts or details, but you could also use them to plan your next quilt - they're great for a brain dumping session!

Print a new Quilt Journal for each of your quilts and pick and choose which of the pages you need based on the project.

I'm using my new quilt journal for the scrappy postage quilt I mentioned in a Week Ending post a few weeks ago. You'll see how I've been filling my pages as I update my progress throughout the year.

The Ultimate Quilt Journal is not only a great way to record the story of your quilt, but future generations will learn more about you as a quilter and the way the world influenced your craft.

I'm a pen and paper kinda gal so having a physical quilt journal that's pretty and easy to use, makes me happy - I imagine creating a whole bookshelf of these journals! The journal is intending for printing purposes only, it is not editable.

The Ultimate Quilt Journal is a PDF download and is now available in my Etsy shop at the small price of $1.99 (AU + taxes where applicable).

I hope The Ultimate Quilt Journal becomes a valuable tool in your quilting journey - your quilts are your legacy, and their stories need be told!

Enjoy!
