Week Ending - February 23

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope you've had a lovely creative week!

In a few short weeks St Patricks Day celebrations will be in full swing, so my next two Week Ending posts will include inspiring projects to add the luck of the Irish to your festivities.

It's a day to feast, celebrate life and nature, play games, look for leprechaun's and have a great time to be sure, so let's see what projects I found for you this week:

  • The Irish Potato Pie from A Spicy Perspective sounds delicious and the perfect way to feast this St Patrick's Day. The recipe looks easy, and its basic ingredients done in a heartwarming way. We've creeping into the autumn season and I'm craving comfort food with simple flavours - this pie will deliver, I'm sure.

  • How stunning is the Irish Lace Blanket Pattern from Yarnspirations? This looks like an heirloom blanket and the lace gives it a soft and cosy drape. The pattern is free to download on Ravelry as a PDF and even if you haven't got time now, it's a lovely pattern to have in your files.
  • Looking for a pretty throw for St Patrick's Day? Wendy Sheppard has the Irish Reel Quilt Pattern available in her shop for purchase. This combination of Irish Chain patchwork and applique is clever and simple and it's a stunning throw quilt for the season.
  • The Irish Apple Amber recipe from Baking A Moment is a traditional Irish dessert combining a buttery crust, shredded apples and a meringue top. Yumm! This dessert will wow your guests and be the perfect ending to a meal or bake one to share with friends as you celebrate the season.

  • Whip up a quick quilt or wall hanging using the St Patrick's Day Shamrock Block Pattern from Aunt Em's Quilts. They're a modern version of a shamrock and they would sew up quickly with endless possibilities for St Patrick's Day projects. A great scrappy project with a comprehensive tutorial.
  • I had to include this one because Amanda from A Crafty Fox sews the most amazing scrappy quilts. Her scrappy fabric combinations are inspiring, and she sells kits with patterns so you can start sewing straight away. Take a look at her gorgeous Irish Chain Quilt pattern - currently the pattern and kits are unavailable to purchase - and draw some inspiration for your own quilt. There are loads of free Irish Chain block patterns available, like HERE and you could design your own quilt using Amanda's quilt as your muse.
  • The Crochet Irish Lace Flower pattern from Crochet Beja is a fun project you can add to scarves, hats, blankets, bags and so much more. There's a video to help you learn this crochet technique and a fun way to add some Irish elegance to your projects.

And that's it for another week! I hope you found something fun to create for St Patrick's Day.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
