Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!
Happy Sunday lovely! I hope you've had a creative week!
I'm loving the gentle cocoon of our winter. The slowness of the season has me feeling more, seeing more, resting more and creating more, and our days are soothing and quiet. We welcomed the winter solstice with our annual family BBQ in the forest, and it's always so peaceful and rejuvenating.
We've also adopted an Icelandic tradition for our solstice - a book and chocolate swap based on the Icelandic tradition, jolabokaflod. On Christmas Eve they swap books and read while sipping hot chocolate or eating chocolate. It's a sweet tradition and perfect for my book loving family.
How did you celebrate the winter/summer solstice?
Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:
- Tonight's dinner is the Creamy Rutabaga Soup recipe from Peel With Zeal. This hearty, flavorsome soup highlights the humble Swedish turnip which is often overlooked but one of our favorite winter vegetables. We're visiting one of my favorite historic homes today and this will be waiting for dinner when we get home.
- Bring the beauty of the night sky into your home with the Northern Lights C2C Wall Hanging pattern from Loops and Love Crochet. This is a free pattern using tapestry crochet and there are a lot of colour changes in this one, but so worth it! Very pretty!
- Remake a vintage quilt block using the Tonganoxie Nine Patch tutorial from MavaNell Studio. This block is referred to as an unequal nine patch block and it's stunning. The tutorial is well written and easy to follow and how gorgeous is the quilt she created? I'd love to sew one of these.
- Crochet Beja has a comprehensive post and video tutorial for a stunning Crochet Beret. Even if you don't crochet, it's fun to watch this project come together. There's lot of tips to help you along the way and the beret is gorgeous.
- Sorry if I've shared this before but Savoring Moments has the Chocolate Chip Vanilla Custard Brioche recipe, and I can't get enough of these. Luscious pastry, smooth custard and chocolate chips make these decadent and moreish and we have a games night next weekend so this will be my contribution to the snack table.
- Have you seen the Farmer's Daughter fabric range from Laundry Basket Quilts yet? This line is due for release in November, and I can't wait. It has a vintage feel with gorgeous florals that will add timeless charm to all your quilt projects. The Fat Quarter Shop is taking pre-orders, and you if you love Edyta's fabrics you won't want to miss this range.
- The Scandi Meadow Blanket from Made by Anita is a stunning yarn garden full of flowers and foliage and a pattern I'm sure you'll love. Perfect for adding some sunshine to your home, this paid PDF pattern includes detailed instruction and video links to guide your through the process. Patterns are available for purchase in her store.
That's it for another week! I hope you feel inspired to create.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)
Happy Week Ending :)
