Week Ending - August 10

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week.

Happy Sunday lovely! How has your week been?

I'm simply going to share a lovely memory from my week.

I was in Spotlight and overheard a young girl ask her mother if she could buy some fabric she'd chosen. When her mum asked what she wanted it for, she replied, "I don't know yet, but it could be anything I want".  This little crafter made me smile. She saw endless possibilities, limitless creativity and the freedom to play without boundaries. I hope she created something beautiful.

Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:

  • Tonight's dinner is the Spicy Chipotle Chicken Burger using the recipe from Crispy Savors. I'm making my own burger buns and I'm using this recipe HERE. I love a good burger, but you have to make them yourself, takeaway just can't compete with homemade. This one sounds like a flavour powerhouse and I'm excited. The burger buns are super simple and delicious and take around 40 minutes to make.
  • The Never Off Cardigan from CJ Design incorporates warm chunky yarn, bold colours and textured granny squares - what's not to love? This looks so cosy and warm, and I predict it would be the first cardigan you grab during the cold months. This is a free pattern with a video to help you along the way.

  • Looking to slow down and connect with your quilt projects more? Suzy Quilts has a tutorial for How to Hand Quilt (with a video tutorial) that I think you should read/watch. Her tutorials are always easy to follow and share valuable tips and tricks in a fun way. This will take your quilting to a new level and reconnect you with the slow art of creating.
  • Design Clip has a video tutorial to crochet their Simple Bow Hairclip and this is a quick and easy project to create. You could also sew them onto scarves, hats and apparel or sell them at stalls or fetes. I know a little girl who'd love a few of these for her hair and she'll love getting into nanna's yarn stash to choose colours.

  • I've bookmarked the Apple Pecan Cake With Caramel Glaze from That Oven Feelin to bake next week. We're hosting games night, and this cake is a showstopper. The tartness of the apple, the crunch of the pecans and the rich, buttery caramel glaze will surely tempt everyone to taste a slice or two.
  • Looking for a quick and easy scrappy quilt? The Charm Square On Point Quilt Pattern from Sew Nikki is a free pattern and its perfect for beginners or those needing to use up some charm squares. The squares are trimmed to 4" square, so don't overlook your scrap bins or fat quarters.
  • The Firefighter Helmet pattern from Micah York is available on Ravelry as a paid crochet pattern and what a fun dress up prop. Our grandchildren love their dress up box and I'm sure this will be a welcome addition (might have to crochet two actually). There are four sizes in the pattern, and I can't wait to start this project.

And that's it for another week. I hope you found something fun to create.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
