Week Ending - August 24

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week.

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been creative.

This week I was invited to run an online class for some very sweet quilters. They sewed my Elizabeth Mini Quilt Pattern, and it was wonderful to see how easily and enthusiastically these ladies took to FPP.  I think I converted them to the world of paper piecing and I'm looking forward to seeing what projects this group work on in the future.

The internet can be very loud and overwhelming but it's moments like these I'm grateful it connects like-minded souls who share the same passions.

Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:

  • Tonight's dinner is the 10 Minute Spinach and Feta Stuffed Phyllo Tart recipe from Recipes By Sylvia. We'll be out most of the day and this will be quick and easy to prepare when we get home. It looks and sounds delicious and I'm hoping they'll be leftovers for the lunchboxes as well.
  • If you're new to quilting, you might find the article Four Quilting Tips I Wish I Had Known When I Started Quilting by Kelli from The Willow Market. Kelli is also self-taught, and these tips may appear basic, but they will set you up for success and alleviate any frustrations.

  • The White Lily Blanket from Elena Fedotova is stunning. It incorporates a 3D geometric pattern full of texture and volume. This would make a gorgeous baby blanket or christening blanket, or perfect for a romantic touch to your bedroom or favorite chair. The pattern is available to purchase on Ravelry and I think you'll love it.
  • Lovers of coconut will salivate when you see these Portuguese Coconut Cakes (Bolos de Coco) from Luna Recipe. They have the perfect crunchy exterior and fluffy, soft interior, making them a delicious dessert idea or something sweet to enjoy with coffee or tea. Yum!

  • With spring just around the corner for us I had to include the free Almost A Flower Garden Quilt Pattern by Darlene Zimmerman. These gorgeous flower blocks surrounded by prairie points, gives this quilt a spring feel using a classic block pattern. The blocks finish at 8" and the quilt finishes at 64 x 75. Gorgeous!
  • If you're looking for a simple project to help you unwind at night, how about the DIY Crochet Popcorn Garland using the YouTube tutorial from House of Leo Crochet? You can make an early start of an everlasting garland for your Christmas tree, and it does look realistic and fun.
  • The Alice's Wonderland Sampler Quilt Book from Alice Caroline includes 100 quilt block patterns for you to create your own sampler. There's a gorgeous mix of unique applique, EPP, FPP and traditionally pieced blocks for you to sew. I love looking at sampler blocks and this book is inspiring and beautifully photographed.

And that's it for another week. I hope these projects inspired you to create.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely. Stay safe and well :)

Happy quilting :)
