Week Ending - October 5

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers. Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week.

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope your week has been kind.

Does anyone else find it distracting that Christmas hit our stores mid-September? Halloween is still over three weeks away and we're being rushed through the last months of the year. I'm trying to savour where I am right now - in October, planning a small Halloween celebration for our grandchildren.

I simply haven't got my jingle bells on just yet.  Have you?

Let's take a look at the Halloween projects I found for you this week:

  • Last weekend, I crocheted the Cute Ghost Trio Pattern from Katie Get's Creative and this was such a fun project. The ghost's work up quickly, they stand by themselves without the need for stuffing and the accessories are fun to play with. I will admit I struggled with the witch hats because crocheting with black yarn is tricky and these are small, but a gorgeous project you can make in an afternoon.
  • If you're a Cricut lover like me, you may like the Free Halloween Subway Art SVG from Main Road Digital Creations. I'll be adding this decal to t-shirts for our grandchildren, but the possibilities are endless. She also links all the fun fonts for Halloween which can help you create your own Cricut designs. Fun!

  • Keep it simple yet festive with the Easy Halloween Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe from Things Cook. They're fun, classic and chewy with colourful Halloween sprinkles and optional candy eyes for a not too spooky sweet treat. The grandkids will love helping bake these.
  • I absolutely love the Crochet Halloween Witch Garland from Golden Lucy Crafts. The blog post contains directions for making the garland, but you will need to purchase the witch pattern from her Etsy shop. So fun!

  • Craft Gossip has a free Haunted House Row Quilt Pattern you might love. There are templates for you to use and basic instructions, but they are easy to decipher and chose your preferred method of piecing. Make a wall hanging or make multiples for a full sixed quilt.
  • I also love the Haunted House Quilt Block Pattern from Pattern By Kia. This is available as an instant download in their Etsy shop and the PDF pattern includes five block sizes making it versatile for all your Halloween quilting projects. A very cute block.
  • The Spooky Layers Cake from Luna Bakes is definitely on my must bake list. It looks dramatic with its bright orange and purple against the black cake, and the runny icing gives it that spooky cauldron vibe that is sure to entice. Yum!

And that's it for another week. I hope you added a new project or two to your must make list.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely. Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
