Week Ending - January 11

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope you've had a creative week.

We're enjoying our summer holidays. Hubby has a few weeks left before he heads back to work and the weather has been glorious. Mornings are spent tending to the garden and picking fresh berries for breakfast, evenings are for picnics on the river or BBQ's with the family.

Summer is not my favorite season, but it's slow and playful, carefree and adventurous. We're rested and relaxed, we're reading and playing board games, we're outdoors every moment of the day and we're disconnected from the rest of the world. It's bliss!

I have found some wonderful projects for you this week, so let's go:

  • My first crochet project of the year is the Glencoe Tartan Poncho from Olivia at Hopeful Honey. My yarn is on the way and I'm eager start so it's ready to wear in our winter months. I have a collection of ponchos, but this one looks cosy and warm and perfect for our Tasmanian climate. The pattern is free to use and there's also a paid version if you require how to photographs etc. to help you recreate your own poncho.
  • Unsure how to quilt your most recent project? Barbara and Ula from Designed to Quilt have 11 Straight Line Quilting Designs for Your Walking Foot you must take a look at. The designs are simple and achievable, and they've included tips to help you be successful and elevate your machine quilting. A wonderful resource.

  • How delicious does this Chai Spiced Pear Almond Crumble Tart from Lina at Gourmet Gusto look? I've bookmarked this for my autumn bucket list, but it looks perfect for anytime of the year. The warm, spicy flavours are the perfect comfort food, and I know this tart will delight my family.
  • I absolutely love the Kaleidoscope Quilt Block from Nancy Page which is available as a free pattern on the Fabric 406 website. Not the usual kaleidoscope block you normally see but a stunning block with an interesting secondary pattern when multiples are sewn together. The tutorial is for a 16" square block but I'm sure you could easily adapt it. Bookmark this one for any of your quilting projects.
  • Another recipe I've bookmarked for autumn is the Savory Leek and Gruyere Bread Pudding from Recipever. Cheesy custard, soft leeks and toasted bread make this recipe so appealing. It's quick to make, can be prepared the night before, and is easy to adapt with ingredients you have on hand.

  • The Diamond Granny Stitch Crochet Hat from Briana K Designs is a wonderful project using Colour Theory yarn from Two of Wands. The free pattern includes six size options ranging from newborn to adult and it's a quick and easy project that looks fabulous and is practical. I may have shared this before, but it's a great reminder to pick up the hook and create.
  • The Capella Quilt from Saija Elina is a stunning foundation paper pieced and traditional pieced quilt which is a great scrap busting project and a fun play on colour values. The PDF pattern includes three sizes and can be purchased from their Etsy shop. Stunning!

And that's it for another week. I hope you found something new to create.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
