Flowers Galore!

The Nine Patches for Maddis Charisma quilt are all complete and now its ready for the applique. In her chosen layout, they will be 40 flower blocks (thanks Mad lol):

20 of each colour. They could have been a bit larger but she wants the cream blocks stippled (yes she has thought that far ahead!!). It is such a busy week for me this week with Doctors appointments for my MIL, trying to sort out some health problems but I have a stash near the machine and Ill just work on them when I can:

Not fast enough for my daughters liking.....her first question to me after school is "Hows my quilt??", somehow I think I forgot to teach her patience!!!

So there are flowers all over my studio and on the other side of the window, our garden is just blossoming, such wonderful inspiration:

Our Banskia Rose is covered in perfect posies just like this. Spring is defintely my favorite season!! Best get back to the quilt!!

My Girl Has Charisma!!

I guess its a perk to have a designer/quilter as a mum, so when a new fabric line comes out, it means a new quilt!!! Maddi loves the Chez Moi range of fabrics, so with their new release of Charisma......she had plans!!!!

I love designing with this girl, she knows exactly what she likes!! She takes elements of what she sees me design, a touch of her own self and a new quilt is born:

Ok this range is funky (and the Jelly Roll is undone, sorry!!!!!).... I need to revert to my teens lol. Maddi has picked all the fabrics and their placement in the quilt, she has chosen all the elements to compliment this quilt including how she wants the applique blocks (Ive tweaked the design so many times.....to her liking lol)

So production has finally began....we have some Nine Patches:

Stay tuned......my girl has a plan!!! Im so proud of her and her focus with this quilt!!! Is she a budding designer??? Nah!!! she has me for that!!!!

Nanny Sharons Picnic Quilt

As soon as I saw Modas Cotton Blossoms from Camille and Bonnie, I bonded with it straight away!! The colours reminded me of my mothers interior designing in the 70's and I just loved the fabrics!! So in keeping with the mother/daughter tradition, I named this design after my mother:

This is Nanny Sharons Picnic Quilt. Quick and simple piecing, using Charm squares and some soft macine appliqued flowers!! Something bright and funky to take on family outings!!

And as an added feature, for those days when the wind doesnt want to play nice, Ive added some corner "rock" pockets:

Cosy enough to slip a rock, or something equilvalent in, to anchor it down (just remember not to sit on them lol).

Hope your having a wonderful weekend!!

7 Projects

Back to my Jelly Roll challenge. I managed to make 7 projects from the one Jelly Roll and a metre of fabric (plus a few bits and pieces from the stash). I used all the meterage but I still have about 6 strips that made it into my scrap bin!

Here there are all together. I really love the soft muted colours of Dandelion Girl. There are three new patterns for Threadbare here:

The Daisy Chain Cushion (which you have already seen!)

The Daisy Sewing Bag which is very roomy and the smaller version the Daisy Project Bag which is perfect for carrying your smaller projects. These will come in a pattern together.

And the Daisy Walk Tablerunner, sure to brighten up any area in the home. These patterns will be available next week. Right now Im busy sewing up a funky project which I hope you will love, more on that later!!
