Week Ending - September 20

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create, every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! How's your week been? My week went by very quickly, but I spent lots of time in the sewing room and the garden. Hubby is putting a new top on my potting bench, so I took the opportunity to repaint, clear out the old pots and rubbish, and reorganise all my supplies to refresh this space and make it work more efficiently.

I love this time of year! Spring feels like you're waking up from a deep sleep with loads of energy and an insistent need to clean everything!

I thought for the next few weeks Week Ending posts, I'd look for some Halloween projects to get you started. Depending on where you live, Halloween might look very different this year, but we can still decorate our homes and have a little fun. I'll be releasing a free pattern for Halloween early next month, and it's super cute (I don't do scary), so stay tuned for that!

OK, let's see what I found to inspire you:

  • If you're a cross stitch fan, you might like the Cross Stitch Planner and Fob Set from Lynne B. She is working on finishing the full pattern by the end of September, but she has a free spooky cat cross stitch pattern for you to download now and it's adorable!
  • I'm sure most people will spend Halloween at home and Almost Makes Perfect has put together a post on Ideas for Celebrating Halloween At Home to give you some ideas. There's lots of fun ideas to keep things normal for the little ones, while they still enjoy the holiday!

  • Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me has designed some fun Halloween Crochet Face Masks for you to crochet. The original pattern includes a liner or you could wear them over a disposable mask or just use them for costumes at home. I adore the cute kitty!
  • Instead of going out trick or treating, how about a kid friendly Halloween Candy Filled Charcuterie Board? I like this idea because you can control how much and what sort of candy goes on the board, and you can swap out some with healthier options. It's a fun project to do with the kids and Arie has lots of ideas to help you plan your board.

  • Jujub has this gorgeous scrappy Halloween Quilt Tutorial for you to try. It's a quick and easy quilt and you'll have plenty of time to get one sewn for Halloween. She's used black minky on the back and it looks so snuggly and warm. Great project!
  • Stacey from Posh in Progress has a Pumpkin Spice Shortbread Cookie recipe which sounds amazing. The cookies look yummy by themselves, and she's finished them with a marbled glaze that adds that special touch. So fun!
  • Party Pie has a fun C2C Halloween Pumpkin Afghan pattern available which the kids will love. This pumpkin is cheeky and cute and he's not as scary as some I've seen. This is a paid PDF pattern and it's available in her Etsy Shop.

And that's it for this week. Covid can't stop us celebrating and hopefully over the coming weeks I'll find lots of ways to make Halloween fun at your house this year.

Next week on the blog, I have a cookie recipe for you and it's the final week of my Economy Block Classic Quilt Blocks series - it's going to be a fun post!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and stay well!

Happy Week Ending :)
