7 Crochet Granny Square Sweater Patterns

Granny squares are versatile and easy to crochet, and you're not limited to just blankets or cushions. Turn your yarn creations into wearable art with these gorgeous sweater patterns.

One of my favorite lifestyle You Tubers wears the most darling crochet sweaters in some of her vlogs. She has quite a collection and I know some of them she found in thrift shops. They're feminine, cosy and super pretty and they've inspired me to crochet one of my own.

Granny squares have become trendy and they're a quick way to make your own wearables as there's minimal shaping and you're working in small manageable squares.

Pinterest has so many options and today I'm sharing 7 Crochet Granny Square Sweater Patterns that are on my wishlist to crochet during our autumn and winter months.

Toni from TL Yarn Crafts has the gorgeous Joan Granny Square Sweater and it's a free pattern on her blog, complete with video tutorials.

This sweater does have shaping around the neck with half granny squares and plain colour blocked sleeves.  I love how it all works together - its modern, fresh and fun and I could see myself wearing this just about anywhere.

It requires worsted weight yarn, and the pattern includes sizing from S to 5XL.

You can find Toni's pattern and video tutorials HERE.

The Twinkling Granny Square Sweater from Mezza Craft uses sweet and petite 2 3/4" granny squares.

It's a cropped sweater but it would be easy to add some extra squares to lengthen it or a simple crochet border. There is shaping around the neck and if you haven't tried a half granny square then these projects are a great way to practice.

The pattern is free is use and THIS POST includes links to the granny square patterns, the borders and the layout and assembly.

The Oma Goodness Top Crochet Pattern from Love Crafts sets the squares on point so there's no need for any neck shaping.

This is super cute and feminine, and I love the lacy border details around the neck, sleeves and the bottom of the sweater. The 3/4 sleeves give it a casual feel perfect for beach days, BBQ's or weekend adventures.

The pattern is available in their shop HERE.

The Granny Squares Sweater Pattern from Ko-Fi is chunky, colourful goodness. This sweater looks cosy and warm, and I love how the large squares creates those bell sleeves.

This sweater requires basic granny squares and would be perfect for beginners - a different option to crocheting blankets.

The pattern is available in their store as an instant download HERE.

The Isla Crochet Granny Square Sweater Pattern from Lakeside Loops is stunning. It's delicate, pretty and made using two granny square designs.

I love the monochromatic look and I think this sweater would become a staple over spring.

The pattern includes sizes S to 5XL and uses a lightweight DK yarn.

You can find all the details on her website HERE.

The Boxy Granny Square Sweater Pattern from Nicole Knutsen is another sweet and feminine sweater pattern I just love.

This is a boxy style sweater with 3/4 sleeves, and she's added just a few pops of colour randomly throughout the sweater which is genius.

You can find the free pattern and charts (if you prefer) HERE.

TS Crochet Design has this gorgeous chunky oversized African Flower Granny Square Pattern available in their Etsy shop, and I need this in my wardrobe.

The sleeve detail is everything and I love the neckline - it looks so cozy and perfect for winter. This was an instant add to cart purchase for me and I can't wait to start crocheting.

The pattern is available in their Etsy shop HERE.

I hope these patterns have inspired you to crochet some simple granny squares and make yourself a new sweater. They all look fun, easy and stylish and you can show off your yarn creations at any event or gathering.
