Mini quilts may be small in size but they're super fun to sew! They're a fast finish with less commitment and every month I add a new design to my pattern family to tempt you!
Morning lovely!
I have a gorgeous new mini quilt pattern to share with you today and as this will be my last mini quilt pattern for the year it had to be Christmas inspired - I'm taking December to be with my family and enjoy the season, and to work on my own handmade gifts!
This mini quilt is delicate and intricate, so will you please welcome the stunning Neve to my pattern family.
I'm so in love with this mini and she will live in our front entrance over the Christmas season to give a festive welcome to everyone who comes through the door.
Neve is a girl's name of Irish and Latin origin meaning snow. It's a beautiful name and it evokes the romance and magic of the Christmas season.
Snowflakes symbolise purity due to their pristine white colour and because they form in the clean, crisp environment of the winter season. No two snowflakes are alike, so they remind us of that everyone is individual, special and unique.
Their fragility reminds us to appreciate the beauty and fleeting moments in our lives, especially at this time of year when we're together with friends and family.
To bring Neve to life, I choose a crisp bright white against the rich navy-blue fabric and the snowflake pops exactly how I imagined.
Snowflakes falling in the night sky are a symbol of beauty and magic during the Christmas season and they create a sense of wonder and joy.
Neve would look stunning in any two fabric combination and I know you'll enjoy making your own snowflake pop with a background colour of your choice.
Neve finishes at around 18" square, and although she is inspired by a traditional pieced block, I've produced her as a foundation paper pieced pattern. She's a little labour intense but an absolute joy to construct and the perfect weekend project for all paper piecing levels.
Knowledge of foundation paper piecing is essential and if you need a little help, you can follow any of my tutorials here:
I'm only an email away if you need some extra help with foundation paper piecing, so contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
The foundation paper piecing templates for Neve are very easy to piece and she's constructed in easy sections. The templates are large and quick to piece, and I think all quilting levels will enjoy this project.
There are quite a lot of sections to join and if you need some guidance then read my Paper Piecing Tips and Tricks blogpost to help you join everything together.
Otherwise, there's nothing particularly tricky about the Neve Mini Quilt. She goes together beautifully, and I've included coloured diagrams to help your construct your quilt with confidence.
The Neve Mini Quilt PDF Pattern includes step by step assembly instructions and full-sized templates so you can print and sew without any fuss.
There's also a colouring sheet to help you plan your fabrics/colours prior to piecing your mini quilt, and optional instructions for adding a hanging sleeve or corner hangers to display your quilt on your mini wall.
I've also included any tips I feel are useful for constructing this mini, and I've been generous when calculating fabric requirements so you can sew with peace of mind.
Neve was an absolute delight to produce, and she's a stunning quilt to welcome the Christmas season.
