Spruce Mini Quilt Pattern + Your December 2018 Calendar

December is only days away so bring on the tinsel, shortbread cookies, cheesy Christmas movies and all the twinkly lights! I love Christmas! It really is the most wonderful time of the year :)
Our tree goes up on December 1st and its a family task. We hang our own ornaments, share memories and nibble on cookies while the Christmas carols play. Our poor tree is 34 years old and its starting to look a little bit tired but we're not ready to swap it for a new one just yet - there are so many memories attached to this tree and all its decorations :)
Just in time for the festive season I'm releasing a new mini quilt pattern, and its a cute little Christmas tree design. Please welcome the gorgeous Spruce to my pattern family:

Spruce is a fun paper pieced pattern and I love how soft and sweet this Christmas tree looks. The best part is it will not shed or need decorating, and it would look perfect in that corner of your home that needs a festive touch.
Fir trees have been used for centuries to decorate homes and places of worship, and many of the early trees were hung upside down from chandeliers or lamp hooks - thankfully that tradition changed :). The modern day tree can now be anything from the traditional faux plastic tree to some carefully structured wooden or metal sculptures. However Christmas is celebrated, there's usually a tree involved :)

I chose a limited colour palette for my Spruce mini quilt using only two prints from the Blush fabric line plus some crisp white homespun. The design looks like EPP but without all the hand sewing, and it goes together quickly and easily in individual rows.
Spruce did take a little longer to construct than some of my other minis but I'm sure you'll agree that the extra work was worth it :)

Instead of the traditional star for the tree top, I opted for a cute little bow. Its a pretty addition and its an elegant finishing touch for this little tree.
For years we had an angel on the top of our tree. Maddi had made it in her first year at school and its wings looked like a ribbon bow. Sadly it started to break a few years ago so I brought our first ever star topper to replace it. The bow in this quilt reminds me of Maddi's little angel ♥

The Spruce PDF pattern comes complete with full sized paper piecing templates plus instructions and diagrams to help with ease of construction. There's also a colouring sheet to assist in planning your colours/fabrics prior to sewing, and some additional instructions for adding an optional hanging sleeve or corner hangers, so you can display your Spruce quilt this Christmas.
Spruce is also published in my new pattern format which is exciting!  I love how fresh and professional the new patterns look.

If you would like to make your own version of my Spruce mini quilt, from today until the end of December PDF patterns are available at the introductory price of $4.95 (AU) in my Big Cartel shop HERE.
Or if you prefer an instant download PDF patterns are also available in my Etsy shop HERE.
I've also decided to extend the introductory price of last months Celeste mini quilt and run it through December as well because you know, its Christmas!
And lastly I have your free December 2018 calendar featuring the gorgeous Spruce:
