Week Ending - March 17

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! How has your week been?

I decided to share an interesting little story with you today. Have you heard of the Easter Bilby?

In 1993, Kaye Kessing wrote The Easter Bilby in an attempt to replace the Easter Bunny here in Australia. She brought awareness to this threatened species, and it quickly became our Easter mascot - our grown-up kids still love their chocolate Bilby's each year!

The reason behind this campaign - the rabbit population in Australia outnumbers any mammal and by purchasing chocolate Bilby's we're supporting native wildlife and not invasive species. I love bunnies as well, but Bilby's are important to our ecosystem and hopefully they can save this animal from extinction with proceeds from the ongoing campaign.

I did find you some wonderful Easter projects this week, so let's go:

  • Whimsy Colour has the Bunny and Carrot Quilt pattern available for instant download in her Etsy shop and I love this! It's clever and fun and there's lots of negative space for some whimsical quilting.
  • The Tim Tam Rocky Road recipe from Keep Calm and Eat Ice Cream looks delicious and super easy. It's a five-ingredient recipe and they are so many ingredient variations you could choose to make it unique and special.
  • How sweet is the Bunny Bunting from Bustle and Sew? This applique felt pattern has been combined with Liberty prints and pastel pom poms to create a gorgeous bunny that's perfect for Easter. The pattern is available to purchase as a digital pattern.

  • Bustle and Sew also has the Spring Bunny Wreath pattern available as a freebie. If you love working with felt, you'll adore this wreath. You can ask Helen for a PDF version of the pattern with step-by-step photos by clicking the link at the bottom of the past.
  • Passionate Crafterr has two Crochet Mini Easter Basket patterns in one instant PDF download in her Etsy shop. There's a sweet lamb and a cheeky chicken to crochet and you could also use them to cover plant pots. So fun!

  • Sew the Little Bunny Cottontail block from Thomas Quilting and make a cushion cover or a mini quilt. It quick and easy traditional piecing and such a sweet bunny to display this Easter. It's a free pattern and the tutorial looks great!
  • The Cinnamon Coffee Cake from Taste of Home can be baked the night before and would be a lovely addition to your Easter table, especially for those who something other than chocolate. It's quick to prepare and looks delicious.

And that's it for another week! I hope these projects inspired you.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
