Week Ending - January 26

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely! I hope this week has been a creative one for you.

Hubby goes back to work on Wednesday and our six-and-a-half-week holiday has been relaxing and reenergising. Our days have been wonderfully lazy - we've sat by the river at sunrise and sunset, lingered in small country towns, dipped our toes in the ocean, virtually visited the great museums, read amazing books, competed at board games, picnicked in the park, played golf, and worked on house and garden projects - now it's time to head back to reality.

I've eased back into the sewing room, and things might look a little different here in 2025 as I explore different ideas and projects with you and for you.

Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:

  • The Hosta Pillow from Sidsel Sangild is a beautiful textured crochet pattern inspired by the leaves of the Hosta plant. The design is mesmerising and it will add some luxury to your couch or reading corner. The PDF pattern is available for purchase in her shop, but you will need to research exchange rates etc. There are also other project patterns using this design on her site and they look amazing.
  • How delicious do the Garlic Swirl Rolls look from My Aunty Recipes? A soft fluffy roll infused with garlic and herbs can be served as a side dish, with a bowl of soup or pasta or enjoyed as a tasty treat when the hunger pangs strike. I've made these before and they're amazing, and they're on tonight's dinner menu.

  • Hobbycraft have a free tutorial for a Quilted Oval Placemat and it looks stylish, quick and easy. A great project for using up those pretty scrap fabrics and they will be a cosy handmade addition to your dining table. The tutorial is written only but seems easy to follow. A quick and useful project.
  • Assia from The Crochet Village has a pattern for her Ambrosia Crochet Washcloth available to purchase as an instant download, and the pretty scallops give this project a soft feminine touch. Imagine a basket packed with luxury bathroom products and a handmade washcloth, and you've created the perfect gift for someone special.
  • She also has a lovely Valentine's Day Scarf pattern free on her site. Using Tunisian crochet and a medium weight yarn, you'll create a scarf that is dreamy and romantic and perfect for a date night with someone special.

  • Sew a small throw sized quilt with Sew Can She's 3 Yard Carpenters Star Quilt Tutorial. This free pattern is for 6 x 16" blocks and borders and the quilt finishes at 41" x 57". It would be easy to adapt this pattern to a larger quilt, if that's what you're looking for and the tutorial is on her blog and in PDF form for your convenience.
  • On my list for next week are the Mini Raspberry Almond Tarts from That Oven Feelin. I have a sewing day with the girls and this one bite morsel will surely delight. I made a batch of raspberry jam on Monday, which was perfect timing for these delicious mini tarts.

And that's it for this week! I hope you feel inspired and ready for a creative week.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
