On February 11, 1989 at St Johns Church, Launceston we were married. Today Les and I celebrate our 20th anniversary!!! A union which has grown stronger every single day... has been tested with up and downs but strengthened with compassion, respect, commitment, affection, patience and love!!!
We had always planned on renewing our vows at 20 years but as the date grew closer we both felt that the ones we made so many years ago were all we needed, they have served us well!! Now our life includes two amazing children and we work together as a family, everyday! On Saturday the four of us will celebrate!!
Tonight we looked through some of the keepsakes and photos from the wedding! I still have my dress and veil, even the ribbons from the car but I also have something else:
I loved our wedding cake, so simple and elegant and one of my families traditions was to keep the top layer to be used as the christening cake for your firstborn. For us that didnt come as easily or as quickly as we would have liked so the cake was almost 6 years old by Maddis christening!! (so yes she had a fresh cake lol) But I still have that top layer:
Apart from the discolouring (and the strong smell lol) its still pretty much intact!!
Les,
Happy Anniversary baby!!! Your my rock, my soulmate, my best friend, my life!!!
I love you, forever!!!
We walk this path together, today, tommorrow and forever.........stronger!!!

I am amazed that the cake has survived so long - how did you preserve it that the "flowers" didn't get crushed and it all still looks so pretty.

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! What an adorable couple you are! I can't believe you still have the top of your cake!! How do you store it?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you both Rose. You can be proud, not everyone came this fare It take some work and You did it. Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We celebrated our 20th last year. It's amazing how many couples don't make it this far. I also can't believe you still have your cake! We had a raspberry filled cake for our wedding and I was so looking forward to having some on our 1st anniversary. we got it out of the freezer and found out that the caterer had made the top layer of plain yellow cake. I was very bummed out - sure am glad I didn't hold onto it any longer!

ReplyDeleteI love you guys so much and I hope you had a fantastic day. I love looking at the photos of your wedding day!
Again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! 20 YEARS!
Congratulations on 20th anniversary and on making the right choice 20 years ago. Our pastor was talking in church yesterday about, besides accepting Christ, making the choice of a mate is the most important decision you will ever make - and I say amen to that.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 20th Wedding Anniversary, may you have lots more. I still have my cake also but it is more than 20 years. I can't bear to throw it out.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your special day with your family. Happy days.
Congratulations! Must of been a great year to be married! We couldn't keep our top layer of our cake as we accidentially cut it at the reception!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on making it a good long distance. May the next 20 years be just as rewarding (and my I be around to wish you a happy 40th! LOL!)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Hope the next 20 years are as happy.
