Bush Gum Blossoms Blog Tour

I'm so excited because today is my stop on the Bush Gum Blossoms Blog Tour. This tour includes two gorgeous new fabric lines from the very talented Amanda Brandl for Kennard and Kennard Fabrics- Bush Gum Blossoms and Taking Flight. These are her debut lines and they are arriving in shops now.
They are the prettiest Australian themed fabrics I've seen and they will bring a bit of our gorgeous homeland to your sewing rooms and projects. Bush Gum Blossoms includes the soft subtle hues of our native blossoms, gum nuts and eucalyptus trees and Taking Flight is rich and vibrant with flying magpies, cockatoos and native Australian flora.
I was immediately drawn to the Bush Gum Blossoms fabric and chose these for my projects, but once I started seeing all the Taking Flight projects come to life it was a case of "I want what she's having". Taking Flight is stunning and I'm in love with Michelle's little girls dress and purse HERE and Sarah's gorgeous quilt HERE.
I'd never used Kennard and Kennard fabric before so I was in for a treat. The first thing you notice is the fresh and vibrant colours and the intricacy of each design.  The fabric is super soft to touch and the quality is amazing. Its beautiful to sew with and the colours work so well together. Bush Gum Blossoms will definitely bring a touch of Spring and Summer to all of your quilting projects.
I decided to use my Stellar Lamp Mat pattern to create some beautiful mats for our sunroom. I made each mat in a different colour way and it really shows how versatile the fabric is. They look stunning as a set but individually they bring their own sweetness to a table top or shelf.
They are almost a little too cute to cover with a lamp but they also look fantastic under a collection of candles or an oil burner.
I love the softness of the colours and how subtle they are in our home decor. Its hard for me to choose my favorite colour way but I think I'm leaning towards the one with the green bindings.
I used my favorite large print in the collection as the backing of each mat and I quilted each one with some of my FMQ flowers to add some gorgeous texture.
As Australian's, we are very proud of our native flora and fauna and now you can add a little of it to your own home with these beautiful fabrics. Amanda is sharing snippets of some of her upcoming fabric ranges and they look amazing. I noticed a little wombat in one photo she posted, so as her ranges grow you will be able to experience all the beauty Australia has to offer.
If you head over to Amanda's website, she has a list of stockists selling her fabric in store and online, so its nice and easy for you to source some for your next project.
My Stellar Lamps Mat pattern is in the current issue of Handmade Magazine. Since sharing them a few weeks ago, I've had inquiries about purchasing the PDF pattern. It will be available in my shops around July, but I will let you know more about that when its listed.
