Week Ending (July 1)

Happy Sunday and welcome to a new month :) Its the start of a new financial year for us as well, so that means its time to go out and spend up big on craft supplies right? I wont tell your hubby if you don't tell mine ;)
This weeks Week Ending list if a great one for stash busting our fabric, yarn and pantry/fridge supplies, so lets get to it:

  • Australia is slowly going plastic bag free (YAY for the environment!). Tasmania switched to cloth or reusable bags back in 2013, and these French Market Mesh Bags would not only be a great use of scrap yarn but they would also perfect to have in the car or your handbag for "accidental" shopping. They look quick and easy and a little bohemian.
  • There are so many gorgeous scrappy quilt patterns but one of my favorites is the Scrappy Granny Square Quilt. Emily has a great tutorial for this quilt and its all done with Jelly Roll strips.
  • Lemons are in abundance at the moment and I'm always looking for ways to use them at this time of year. I like to cook up a batch of Donna Hay's Lemon Curd to use in cakes or to drizzle over ice cream and this recipe is yummy. (it works well with limes as well).
  • When you have lots of half skeins of yarn a scrappy pattern like this Fields Of Flowers Blanket is perfect. Just grab a background yarn of your choice and then work your way through your stash and make your blanket colourful.
  • Another great way to use up fabric scraps is a little improv piecing. This Trash To Treasure Quilt Block looks fun to sew and a great way to use pieces too small for anything else.
  • Looking for a recipe to help with fridge clean outs? I love to use this Clean Out The Fridge Veggie Frittata recipe. You can adapt this one quite easily to work with what you have left in the fridge, its even great for left over roasted vegetables. Its a quick and easy weeknight meal and its perfect cold as well, so pop some in the lunchboxes.
  • And lastly I have another of my favorite scrap quilts. This Modern Plus Quilt from In Colour Order is gorgeous. This is another free pattern from Jeni and its one of her older ones but its a fantastic stash buster. Go take a look!
So that's this weeks list and I think its a great list of stash busting projects. The more we use the more new supplies we can buy right?
Happy Week Ending :)
