{DIY Self Care} Cacao Face Mask

Self-care refers to creating healthy habits, not treating or improving yourself. Relaxation quietens the mind and promotes self reflection. Take some time for yourself this Easter with my Cacao Face Mask!

Have you tried making your own face masks? They're super easy and so good for your skin, plus you know exactly what you're putting on your face. I have a few I like to make, but for Easter I had to share my deliciously good and chocolatey, Cacao Face Mask recipe.

If no one's told you lately, you're amazing and everything you do is appreciated!  You've been busy with Easter preparations and now it's time to do something just for you - run a nice hot bath, sit back and relax for fifteen minutes and let this delicious chocolate face mask work it's magic on your skin! You deserve it girlfriend!

Now I'm all for aging gracefully, but menopause left me with dry, sensitive skin, so I'm vigilant with my skin care routine. Natural homemade masks revitalise and soften my skin in a much gentler way, so I apply a face mask every Sunday and the benefits are not only visible straight away, but they last a whole lot longer.

The Cacao Face Mask is good enough to eat (and you could if you wanted) and easy to make with three simple ingredients.

Cacao Powder:

Cacao powder is the unprocessed version of cocoa powder and while it's more expensive it's better for you! It contains more antioxidants than green tea or red wine and it's rich in magnesium which is an anti-inflammatory that will help reduce fatigue or puffiness, and redness of the skin.

Cacao will also retain water in the skin which alleviates dryness, and it aids in the elasticity of the skin and the increase of collagen.

It will leave your skin glowing, help tackle blemishes and fine lines, improve your circulation and leaving you feeling confident and glowing.

It's the super food of superfoods so make sure you use it in your baking as well!

Ground Almonds:

Almonds are rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, essential amino acids and healthy fats, and people have consumed them for centuries to achieve healthy glowing skin.

The finely ground almonds will act as a gentle exfoliant on the skin, stimulating and nurturing the skin with its healthy oils. It will also help to speed up the cell-renewal process and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Honey:

Honey is the antibacterial element that nourishes the skin and acts as a powerful wound healer. It's perfect for sensitive skin, like mine, and it's loaded with anti-aging qualities.

It helps fade scarring, treats acne, delays aging, smooths fine lines and hydrates the skin without making it oily.

It makes the skin firm, plump and supple and adds a dewy glow to your complexion.

Light a candle, put on some music and smooth the Cacao Face Mask onto your skin before lying back and relaxing for fifteen minutes - it's beneficial to your over all health and well being.
