Stitch Fiddle makes designing your own C2C crochet blocks simple and fun! For Valentine's Day I designed a sweet heart block that is versatile and quick to crochet!
Morning lovely!
I have a fun Valentine's Day project to share with you today. The C2C Heart Block is a sweet and simple block to crochet as we celebrate this season of love.
I used Stitch Fiddle again to design a very basic C2C heart block pattern for you. They make the design process very easy and it's a lot of fun - you have to try it yourself!
If you're unfamiliar with C2C, it's very addictive and a fun way to crochet and this heart block is the perfect beginner's project.
Make and Do Crew has a very detailed tutorial that includes how to crochet a C2C block and design your own projects in Stitch Fiddle, and how to increase and decrease, change colours and weave in those ends.
It also explains how to read a graph and all tools and stitches you need to get started. It's a very comprehensive tutorial and you can find it HERE.
I decided to include both a graph and a written pattern for my C2C Crochet Heart Block to make it super easy for you, but first let's look at the materials etc. I used for this block.
This is a 15 x 15 C2C block pattern, and I decided to shop my yarn stash choosing two 5ply cotton yarns and a 3.50mm crochet hook.
My block finished at 8 1/2" square, but different yarns and hooks will alter this size.
You'll only need two colours for this block - white (W) and red (R) and I used around 29g of white and 22g of red yarn.
So, let's crochet:
Increase Rows:
Row 1: 1W
Row 2: 2W
Row 3: 3W
Row 4: 4W
Row 5: 5W
Row 6: 6W
Row 7: 7W
Row 8: 8W
Row 9: 9W
Row 10: 2W, 6R, 2W
Row 11: 3W, 6R, 2W
Row 12: 2W, 7R, 3W
Row 13: 4W, 7R, 2W
Row 14: 2W, 8R, 4W
Row 15: 5W, 7R, 3W
Decrease Rows:
Row 16: 2W, 8R, 4W
Row 17: 4W, 7R, 2W
Row 18: 2W, 7R, 3W
Row 19: 3W, 4R, 4W
Row 20: 3W, 5R, 2W
Row 21: 2W, 4R, 3W
Row 22: 2W, 4R, 2W
Row 23: 2W, 3R, 2W
Row 24: 2W, 2R, 2W
Row 25: 5W
Row 26: 4W
Row 27: 3W
Row 28: 2W
Row 29: 1W
And that's the sweet and simple C2C Crochet Heart Block pattern.
You can use this block in any of your Valentine's Day projects - you could make a lovely throw with multiple blocks of hearts in different colours!
I hope you have fun with this pattern. I love C2C crochet and Stitch Fiddle makes designing your own patterns easy, fun and a little bit addictive.
Enjoy!
Happy crocheting :)
