Week Ending - August 31

Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week!

Happy Sunday lovely!

We're saying goodbye to winter and welcoming spring's new beginnings. You can feel the awakening, the stirring of life beneath the earth, the revival of dormant passions and a sudden shift in our moods. It's our time to bloom.

I had one of those weeks where I started one small project and it snowballed into something bigger. As part of our spring patio refresh I painted an old table I use for flowerpots and its freshness eclipsed everything else in the patio. I now have a huge list of everything that needs repainting and it's a project that will keep me busy (and outdoors) in the weeks ahead.

Let's take a look at the projects I found for you this week:

  • Today's lunch is the Easy Greek Chicken Gyros Recipe from Dora Recipes. We're having friends over for a quiet afternoon and these will be perfect. I love a delicious wrap and with flavoursome chicken, crisp vegetables and tangy yoghurt I'm sure everyone will enjoy a relaxed and simple lunch.
  • I thought this Simple Reversible Apron Pattern from Makyla Creates might make a sweet gift idea for your baking lovers, or to sew for yourself. This is a free pattern with an easy tutorial, and it includes a YouTube video to help you out.

  • The Alba Afghan from The Loophole Fox is stunning and a wonderful free project for you to crochet. This looks so cosy and warm, and it includes a unique stitch combination to achieve that stunning texture. There are photos to help you, and ad free PDF versions are available for purchase as well. I love this and it reminds of one I crocheted a free years ago which is now no longer available.
  • The Patchwork Flower Block from The Melody of Sewing is a free pattern for a 7" (finished) block and its gorgeous. If you love flower blocks or are looking for an interesting block for a sampler, or a children's quilt, then go watch this video and subscribe to her channel to see her other projects.

  • It's our craft day on Wednesday and I'm taking along the Persian Orange Cake With Cardamon and Poppy Seeds from Poulef Recipe. I love a zesty cake, and this is zesty, tangy, aromatic and easy to bake. It's moist, fragrant and packed with flavour and perfect to share with crafting friends.
  • If you have lavender in the garden you might like to read 6+ Uses for Lavender Leaves from The Nerdy Farm Wife. She shares recipes for balms, bath soaks, infused vinegar and more and it's a wonderful resource to help you purposefully use your lavender leaves.
  • Add a modern twist to your granny squares with the Crochet Modern Granny Square tutorial from Crochet Beja. The triangle geometry creates a stunning secondary pattern, and the video tutorial is easy to follow. It's the perfect square for monochromatic or neutral palettes and one to keep in your files.

And that's it for another week. I hope you found something wonderful to create.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely. Stay safe and well :)

Happy Week Ending :)
