Seven inspiring projects, seven talented makers! Quilting, crochet and baking links to inspire you to create every day of the week.
Happy Sunday lovely. I hope you've had a creative week.
What makes your home feel like Christmas? Is it the wonky tree you've put up year after year, or the faded stockings you've hung since their first Christmas? Is it an ornament made at school or one from your grandparents' tree? Is it the cookie plate that has been worn and well-loved or the recipes you bake from your nanna's cookbook? Is it something handmade that you treasure year after year?
Hopefully this week's Week Ending post will inspire you to create and ignite the spirit of Christmas, ignoring the fleeting trends and the constant push to over consume at this time of year.
Let's go:
- Christmas for me is all about the smells coming from the kitchen and the Mary Berry Mincemeat Muffins recipe from British Chefs Table is sure to fill your home with warm, spicy aromas. It's a six-ingredient recipe and you can make these ahead of time and freeze - love this time saving option at Christmas. These are a must bake for me.
- The Crochet Gingerbread Stocking from Golden Lucy Crafts is a free pattern and this is adorable. The heart applique and extra embellishments make this delightful stocking a project you'll want to try. You could also personalise them with names and hang a homemade stocking for everyone this year, including the pets.
- Raid the fabric scraps and use the tutorial from With Love Live to make these Patchwork Fabric Bells. Hang them on your Christmas tree, make a garland or fill a dough bowl with these festive bells. The tutorial walks you through the steps and they're the perfect project to start now so you're ready for decorating next month.
- Get creative in the kitchen with Semi Sweet Designs tutorial for Decorating a Gingerbread House Cookie Set. You will need to purchase the cookie cutters or if you're feeling creative you could make your own templates using her icing template as a guide. A wonderful, sweet, Christmasy gift to give to someone special.
- The Santa Coaster Free Crochet Pattern from Direct Source Yarn has made it to the top of my Christmas crafting list. Landon and Iris will love this cute Santa, and the pattern is very easy which means you can crochet these with ease - and in bulk if you want stocking stuffers. I also think I need one of these next to my reading chair to add some festive fun to my space.
- I also love the free Snowmen Coaster pattern from Okie Girl Bling 'N Things. They're super cute, super fun and you could use either of these coaster patterns as applique for scarves, cardigans etc. to give the kids wardrobe a festive feel without spending a fortune on Christmas clothes they wear only once or twice.
- Suzy Quilts has a Free Advent Calendar Pattern/Tutorial on her site, and I love the rustic, vintage feel of this one. Half the fun will be decorating and filling your advent calendar with goodies and each pocket is big enough for multiple small gifts for the family - think decorations, chocolates, books or date vouchers for the whole family to make the most of every day during December.
And that's it for another week. I hope you found something fun and festive to create.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovely! Stay safe and well :)
Happy Week Ending :)
