Christmas Projects and Planning

As soon as November hits, I start planning for Christmas and there's lots of resources on the blog to help you make the most of the festive season. Here's a recap of my most popular Christmas projects and planning essentials!

I'm not sure why, but I'm far more excited for Christmas this year than in past years. Maybe it's because we now have two small grandchildren to share the season with, or because we desperately need this magical time after another tough year.

Regardless, I'm in Christmas mode and I thought today I'd recap some of the most popular Christmas resources I have on the blog, in case you've missed them.

Let's start with some Christmas Planning:

I'd seriously be lost without my Christmas Planner. Everything is in one place (including receipts) and my lists and recipes are easy to find and everything stays organised.

There's so much in this planner and every year you simply reprint the pages you used last year and you're ready to start planning an unforgettable Christmas.

I make bucket lists for every season and special holiday, and my free booklet contains 101 Ideas for Christmas Bucket Lists. It includes ideas and activities for you, the kids, the family, the pets and the community.

I wrote our Christmas Bucket List last week and it's full of activities and creative fun which encapsulate our childhoods. I want to remind the family of simpler times when life was carefree and everything was magical, and when our dreams and imaginations ran wild!

I hope these resources help you plan a fantastic Christmas season for you and your family.

Baking at Christmas fills the house with delicious aromas, making everything cosy, inviting and festive.  Baked goods are also perfect to gift, and you can feel the love in a plate of warm cookies straight out of the oven.

I have a large selection of Christmas Recipes available for you to try and I'll be adding a few more in the coming weeks, so stayed tuned!

Without a doubt, my Christmas Star Block pattern is my most downloaded resource on the blog. It's mind blowing how many times it's been downloaded - I love that you love it!

It's a FPP block pattern, and it includes four sizes so you can use it for a variety of Christmas projects (and all year round if you want). Once you grasp the concept of paper piecing, this is a simple block to piece and so many newbies have been thrilled with what they have created.

Have fun!

Another favorite project is my Fabric Star Hangers tutorial. I love including these in Christmas Cards or gifting them to friends to hang on their tree.

They're easy to make and it's a fun festive project to do with the kids.

These cute and simple Christmas Mug Rugs are another popular pattern and they're such a fun gift idea for teachers, work mates, craft buddies or sweet neighbours.

Both the FPP and applique version are available in the free download, and both are fun and easy to sew.

My Let it Snow Cushion pattern is another popular freebie, and I love it because it's simple and super easy to create. It's raw edge applique and the pom-pom fringe is adorable.

Christmas is in summer in Australia, so we live vicariously through cheesy Christmas movies and social media for our white Christmas.

I place this cushion under our tree every year and wish for snow during the holiday season! - it never happens but a girl can dream right?

Tree Farm is one simple FPP block design sewn three ways to give you a trio of blocks to use for any project you can dream up.

This pattern delights me, and it's been very popular with so many of you as well. One lovely reader made a whole quilt using multiples of these blocks and it was breath taking - I was thrilled she chose my blocks to make her quilt!

Have fun creating your own Tree Farm.

And the last project I'll share today is my Gingerbread Coaster pattern. This free pattern has been very popular, and they're a simple gift idea for the kids - the big ones as well!

It's basic crochet with some applique thrown in, and they're perfect under a mug of hot chocolate or eggnog while you're watching your favorite Christmas movies.

So, there are the most popular Christmas resources I have on the blog at the moment. There are more to be found and if you type CHRISTMAS into the search bar at the top, they should all pop up!

I hope these resources sparked your excitement for Christmas and everything this magical season has to offer!

I'll have some new projects for you over the coming weeks, and I hope it's a creative season for you!

Happy sewing :)

  1. Thank you for sending a refreshing message. It's so more important than all the consumerism. I just send gifts to my 2 great grandsons who are 7 and 8 who I don't get to see but every couple of years as they are located 1700+ miles from us.

Wish we could send you some snow from here in Montana. Luckily it's only getting down to 25 degrees tonight. Whoop, whoop ! Lots more winter to come.

Thanks for the patterns. I'm planning on doing the snowflakes first to put on my front porch Christmas tree.
